Arima Onsen Taketoritei Maruyama

What kind of onsen ryokan is Arima Onsen Taketoritei Maruyama?

This is a boutique modern onsen ryokan in Arima Onsen.  There are 30 rooms only.  Perhaps if this is your first time staying at ryokans, I would recommend it.  Facilities tend to be the latest.  On the other hand, if you are looking for a luxury ryokan adventure, this wouldn’t be.  I would rather recommend staying at Nakanobo Zuien.  Taketoritei Maruyama would be great for family, couples, groups, or solo travelers.  The ambiance is cozy, tranquil, and friendly.

Is the location easy to access?

Yes, but it’s a little away from Arimaonsen Station.  It takes 15min on foot and there are some slopes on the way to the property, so free shuttle service is available.  You need to call at +81-78-904-0631 when you’ve arrived at the station.

Rooms I would recommend?

If you are going to stay here, I would recommend rooms with private hot springs.  You can chill out at the private bath whenever you like.  That’s truly amazing.  Once we checked in, we fully enjoyed our private onsen on the balcony.  The spring quality is simply wonderful.  It seems that some rooms were renovated in 2017, but some are not.   Then if you don’t want to sleep on Japanese-style mattresses in tatami rooms, you may want to book Japanese-western rooms with twin beds.

How about toiletries & in-room amenities?

All of the amenities are taken care of including enough toiletries, a green tea set, yukatas, and pajamas.  Also, there are some colorful yukatas for women you can choose.  Room service is not available.  There are vending machines for drinks in-house.  Complimentary coffee, tea, and soft drinks are available in the lobby.  The Free Wi-Fi reception was good in the property.  Also, this is child-friendly.  Staff provides meals, toys, futons, baby baths, and yukatas for small children if you request in advance.

How about In-house Facilities?

There are some amazing indoor and outdoor communal hot springs.  They are open between 6:00-10:00, 15:00-24:00.  Also, there are four complimentary private family hot springs.  You need to book when you check-in if you want to use them.  They are open between 6:30-10:15, 15:30-23:45.  *If you have tattoos, you may not be permitted to use the communal bathing area.  You can use reserved private family baths only.  Alternatively, you may want to book a room with a private hot spring.  Then Taketoritei Maruyama is not a universal design.  There are some steps.  I wouldn’t recommend it if you bring people with weak feet.  Wheelchairs are available for borrowing, though.

How about meals?

Kaiseki food experience for dinner and breakfast was great.  You won’t be able to resist even you are full.  The portion tends to be big.  All meals are served in a private room or in a dining area on 2F.  It depends on which room you book.  If you have dinner here, you need to check-in by 19:30.  Then inform the staff when you book a room with meals if you have any food allergies or dietary needs.  They probably wouldn’t be able to prepare alternative food if you request on that day.  Alternatively, you can go out for meals as there are many local restaurants around there.

My impressions

What I’d like to highlight is that all staff was excellent.  If you want to experience signature Japanese hospitality with a personal touch, you should stay here.  They were extremely attentive, exquisite, and helpful.  Overall, the price range tends to be a bit high because this is Arima Onsen, but if you want to relax with private hot springs, it’s well worth it.  At last, Arima Onsen is one of the popular destinations in Japan.  If you want to hang out in Yukata around the onsen town in a tranquil atmosphere, you may want to avoid staying during Lunar New Year, late April to early May, weekend of Oct and Nov, and the end of the year and New Year holiday.  Have a nice trip!  Welcome to receive any questions about the property from the below space.  Check Availability and Pricing for the onsen ryokan on Booking.com or Agoda
