Cross Hotel Kyoto

This hotel wouldn’t be luxury, but very cozy, functional and modern.  If you are a couple or solo traveler, I would highly recommend it.  Perhaps, if you have a lot of activities in Kyoto, the hotel would be great.  The location is in downtown Kyoto.  To be frank, I didn’t expect to stay in such a good hotel with that budget.  I was betrayed by the hotel, in a good sense.  Everything, such as interior, furniture, and decorations, etc., is truly stylish, modern, and fashionable.  Absolutory it would be one of the best in Kyoto.  Facilities are bread new as it opened on Sep, 2018.  The room is functional, user-friendly and relaxed.  There is no nice view from rooms as the location is in the center of Kyoto.  The building has the latest soundproofing.  The ambience is tranquil, friendly and serene.  Wifi reception was excellent.  All of the amenities are taken care of including enough toiletries, pajamas, bath salt, English tea bags, bottled water and a Japanese tea set.  There are three kinds of pillows you can choose.  Also you can complimentary request skincare products.  There are ila amenities in the bathroom.  Then there is a cozy lounge on 1F and complimentary coffee is available.  There is a convenience store nearby.  Room service is not available.  You can use a laundry service at an additional charge.  Unluckily, there is no gym, no spa, and no hot water bath in-house.  Then you can request amenities for children, such as pajamas, slippers, and toothbrushes.  Also cribs are complimentary available if you request in advance.  Then the property is universal design.  There is a room for wheelchair users.  Wheelchairs are available for borrowing.  If you take people with weak feet, you may want to inform staff of it in advance as they can arrange a room near the lift.  Then western food experience was good.  The price range would be reasonable for dinner.  Also the buffet-style western food for breakfast was good.  You can choose either Japanese cuisine or the buffet.  Breakfast time is from 7:00-10:00.  Actually, there are many restaurants around here.  If this is your first visit Kyoto, you may want to ask staff about recommended restaurants.  Then staff tends to be patchy.  Their hospitality would be more like typical chain hotels.  If you expect a sophisticated service, this is not.  Overall, the hotel has great value for money.   The property with a relaxed environment that women can feel comfortable entering even alone.  When I visit Kyoto, I always stay in Higashiyama area because the atmosphere is very much Kyoto, but for this trip I had some appointments to meet people near the hotel so I stayed here.  If you have a busy schedule, you may want to stay near Kyoto station or the center of Kyoto.  On the other hand, if you have enough time, I would highly recommend staying in Higashiyama area.  Anyway an access to the property would be easy.  It you take a taxi from Kyoto station, it takes 10min.  It costs around JPY1,000.   If you take a train, get off at Sanjo Station or Kyoto Shiyakusho-mae Station, then 5min walk to the property.  At last, the property is very popular now.  If you want to chill out at the property in a tranquil atmosphere, you may want to avoid staying during Lunar New Year, early April, late April to early May, 16th of Aug, weekend in Nov, and the end of year and New Year holiday.  Have a nice trip!  Welcome to receive any questions about the property from the below space.  *All information is as of the date that I posted on my blog.  **Check in and out times 15:00/11:00  Check Availability and Pricing for the hotel on Booking.com or Agoda
