Four Seasons Hotel Kyoto

If you are looking for luxury hotels in the Higashiyama area, I really think you should stay at Four Seasons Hotel Kyoto.  This property would be one of the fine hotels in the world.  The hardware is clearly outstanding and is enhanced by memorable views.  In particular, we were truly impressed with the traditional garden.  Once we entered the gate, the four season’s world was perfectly created.  Being there is heavenly.  If you are going to stay here, I would highly recommend booking a room with views of the traditional garden and the tea house.  You can see a magnificent garden while chilling out in the room.  That’s precious time.  Everything, such as facilities, architecture, interior and decorations, etc., is truly sophisticated.  The property would be great for couples, family, solo travelers, business persons, and small groups.   Also, Four Seasons Hotel Kyoto is child-friendly.  Staff can provide baby cribs, amenities, and strollers, etc. if you request in advance.   Then all of the amenities are taken care of including enough toiletries, yukatas, bathrobes, a coffee machine with 6 capsules, English tea bags, welcome fruit, a Japanese tea set, and bottled water, etc.  Complimentary skincare products are available if you request.  Room service is available for 24H.  Turn down service is available.  The room comes with an iPad that you can do a lot on.  That includes order food and shut the blinds plus more.  Then Four Seasons Hotel Kyoto is a perfect universal design.  Wheelchairs are available for borrowing.  If you bring people with weak feet, you may want to inform the staff in advance as they can arrange a room near the lift.  Then there is an incredible indoor swimming pool, Jacuzzi, communal hot water baths, saunas, and a gym on B2.  The ambiance is absolutely amazing.  Don’t forget to relax on the poolside.  The spa area is open from 6:00 to 22:00.  The gym is open for 24H.  *A minimum age requirement of 16 applies.   Swimwear, swim goggles, swim caps, swim rings, sportswear, running shoes, and yoga mats, etc., are available for borrowing, but availability and sizes may be limited.  You may want to bring your own.  *If you have tattoos and want to use the indoor swimming pool, etc., you need to wear a “Rash Guard” which is a shirt that protects from the sun when you are playing in the water.  Then the hotel is pet-friendly.  Please note that one small dog or one cat  *up to 7 kg per room can be accommodated upon request, at an additional charge.  You need to contact the staff in advance if you bring your pets.  Then the buffet-style western food for breakfast was excellent.  No doubt this is one of the best in Japan.  You won’t be able to resist even you are full.  Don’t forget to bring your empty stomach.  Breakfast time is from 7:00 to 10:30.  We didn’t have dinner and lunch on the property.  Actually there wouldn’t be nice restaurants around here.  If you go out for meals, you would need to get a taxi and visit around Kyoto station or the Gion area, etc.  It takes just less than 10min by taxi.   It costs around JPY1,000.  Then don’t forget to visit the bar in the garden called Shakusui-tei.  The tea house is open from 17:00-21:00.  The ambiance is surprisingly awesome, mystical, and romantic.  You can see a beautiful traditional garden with a historical pond from the tea house.  *The tea house is a café in the daytime from 14:00-17:00.  Then the staff tends to be patchy.  I noticed that there was a shortage of staff when we stayed at the property in 2017.  If you want to experience signature Japanese hospitality, this is not.  Overall, the price range would be high, but it’s well worth it.  The location is almost perfect.  It’s not great access to public transportation, though.  There are many well-known spots within walking distance.  You wouldn’t need to travel far during your stay at the hotel.  Then access to the property would be easy if you take a taxi from Kyoto Station.  It takes 5min by car.  It costs around 700JPY.  Alternatively, you can take a train and get off at Shichijo Station, and then 10min walk to the property.  At last, the best season to stay here would be in spring or fall.  You can fully enjoy breathtaking views in the garden.  The hotel is one of the popular in Kyoto.  I noticed that there were many local people visiting restaurants on-site.  If you want to relax in a tranquil atmosphere, you may want to avoid staying during Lunar New Year, early April, late April to early May, weekend in November, and the end of year and New Year holiday.  Have a nice trip!  Welcome to receive any questions about the property from the below space.  *All information is as of the date that I posted on my blog.  *Check-in and out times 15:00/12:00   Check Availability and Pricing for the hotel on Booking.com or Agoda
