Hyatt Regency Kyoto Hotel

If this is your first visit Kyoto, I really think you should stay here.  An access to the property would be very easy from Kyoto Station.  On the other hand, if you are looking for a ryokan adventure in Kyoto, this is not.  The ambience would be lively, modern, and sophisticated.  This hotel would be great for solo travelers, business persons, couples, or family.  If you are going to stay here, I would highly recommend booking a spacious room as most of rooms tend to be cramped.  Also some rooms wouldn’t have nice view.  Then facilities tend to be the latest. The room is user-friendly, fanctional, and tranquil.  Wifi reception was sometimes slow in our room.  All of the amenities are taken care of including enough toiletries, pajamas, bathrobes, yukatas, and a green tea set.  You can travel light.  Then room service is available for 24H.  Also a DVD player, a CD player, and a Blu-Ray player were placed in our room.  Then humidifiers, cribs, and wheelchairs are available for borrowing.  There are some convenience stores nearby.  Then this is a perfect universal design.  If you take people with weak feet, you may want to inform staff of it in advance as they can arrange a room near the lift.  Then you can complimentary use the gym for 24H.  Also you can watch Maiko’s traditional dance at the lobby every evening from 18:15.  That’s a great service.  Then there are some wonderful restaurants in the hotel.  I would highly recommend Trattoria Sette and THE GRILL.  Actually I stayed at the hotel for 2 nights, but I never got bored with food.  I noticed that there were many local people visiting for lunch and dinner.  You may want to book a table in advance.  The buffet-style breakfast was good but I believe a bit more selection of food should be available to this standard of hotel and price.  Then as far as I know, there are few nice restaurants within walking distance.  The property is located in a residential area.  If you go out for meals, you may need to visit Kyoto station or Gion area.  Also most of restaurants in Kyoto city are open from 11:00AM except fast food shops so you may want to book a room with breakfast at least.  Then staff tends to be patchy.  It seems that they look so busy, especially during busy season.  If you want to experience signature Japanese hospitality, this wouldn’t be.  Then the location would be almost perfect if you explore around Higashiyama area.  It takes 5min by TAXI from Kyoto Station.  It costs 450JPY.  Alternatively you can complimentary take a MK taxi from Hachijoguchi Exit of Kyoto station to the property only once during your stay.  If you need more information, email at  If you take a train, get off at Shichijo Station and then 10min walk to the proeprty.  At last, the best season to stay at Hyatt Regency Kyoto Hotel would be in spring or fall.  You can view beautiful landscapes while taking a walk around here.  The weather is just nice, not so cold, and not so hot.  On the other hand, I wouldn’t recommend visiting in the summer season as it’s extremely hot and humid.  It would be hard to walk outside under the blazing sun, especially for small kids and elderly people.  Nevertheless, if you have a chance to visit Kyoto in summer, I would highly recommend staying at Hoshino Resorts L’Hotel de Hiei as the temperature around the resort is much lower than Kyoto city.  Have a nice trip!  Welcome to receive any questions about the property from the below space.  *All information is as of the date that I posted on my blog.   Check Availability and Pricing for the hotel on or Agoda
