The Ritz Carlton Kyoto

This hotel is one of the best in JAPAN.  We have stayed at The Ritz Carlton Tokyo, Osaka, and Okinawa but The Ritz Carlton Kyoto would exceed others.  Everything, such as hospitality, ambiance, food, and facilities is impeccable.  If you are looking for luxury hotels in Kyoto, I really think you should stay here.  Perhaps, if this is your first visit Kyoto, I would highly recommend it.  On the other hand, if you are a connoisseur of Kyoto, this is not.  Because the neighborhood around the property wouldn’t be very much Kyoto.  That’s too bad.  If you want to stay somewhere reminiscent of Kyoto, you may want to book accommodations around the Higashiyama area, such as Four Seasons Hotel Kyoto.  The Ritz-Carlton Kyoto would be great for couples, family, solo travelers, groups, or business persons.  Once we entered the property, immediately the staff escorted us to our room and checked in while having Japanese tea.  If you are going to stay here, I would highly recommend booking a room with a view of the Kamo River.  Then you may want to stay in a room on the highest floor possible.  You can see peaceful views while chilling out in the room.  When I stayed at a room on 3F, my ear sometimes caught footsteps from the upstairs but it was not a big deal for me.   Also, it seems that there are some rooms facing a cemetery on the west side.   Then the room was luxuriously decorated, functional, and user-friendly.  All of the amenities are taken care of including enough toiletries, yukatas, bathrobes, a coffee machine with capsules, welcome fruit, baked cakes, and a green tea set.  A Blu-ray player, a DVD player, and an air cleaner were placed.  Then The Ritz Carlton Kyoto is child-friendly.  Staff can provide amenities, baby cribs, and yukatas for small children if you request in advance.  Also, babysitter service is available at an additional charge.  Room service is available for 24H.  There is a convenience store nearby.  Free Wifi reception was good in the building.  Turn-down service is available.  Unluckily there is no executive club lounge to relax while drinking and eating.  Then The Ritz Carlton Kyoto is a perfect universal design.  There are some rooms for wheelchair users and wheelchairs are available for borrowing.  If you bring people with weak feet, you may want to inform the staff in advance as they can arrange a room near the lift.   Then the property has a wonderful swimming pool, gym, saunas, and hot water baths on B2 which you can complimentary use whenever you like.  Swimwear, swim cap, and swim goggles are available for borrowing.  You can relax at the poolside after a long day out.  The swimming pool is open from 6:00-22:00.  *A minimum age requirement of 5 applies.  *If you have tattoos, you may not be permitted to use the public bathing area.  The gym is open for 24H.  *A minimum age requirement of 16 applies.  Then some free activates are provided for guests.  We were excited to join a cycling activity in the early morning.  You should join it.  A tour guide brings you to some well-known spots in the city.  If you are not so familiar around Kyoto, you should join others too, such as “Hike Kyoto”, “Run Kyoto”, “Art Tour in-house”, and “Warm-Up Exercise”, etc.  Also, they can offer free activities for small children, such as Origami, Balloon art, and Treasure hunt, etc.  You need to book all of them in advance by e-mail rc.kyoto.activity@ritzcarlton.com if you join  Then the buffet-style breakfast is one of the best in Japan.  You can choose either buffet-style or Japanese cuisine.  All ingredients were very high-end.  You won’t be able to resist even you are full.  Don’t forget to bring your empty stomach.   I noticed that some local people visited the restaurant for breakfast.  The hotel has Japanese and Italian restaurants in-house.  I would highly recommend the latter for lunch or dinner.  No doubt this is top-notch.  If you are a gourmet, you should try it.  They have a nice wine list to complement the meal.  You may want to book a table, especially the weekend as it is one of the most popular in Kyoto.  *Inform staff in advance if you have any food allergies or dietary needs.  Then access to the property would be easy.  It takes just 5min on foot from Kyoto Shiyakusho-Mae Station.  Alternatively, it takes 15min by TAXI from Kyoto station.  It costs around 1,200JPY.  Overall the price range would be high, but it’s well worth it.  The best season to stay here would be in spring.  Cherry blossoms along the Kamo river would be amazing.  Have a nice trip!  Welcome to receive any questions about the property from the below space.  *All information is as of the date that I posted on my blog.  **Check-in and out times 3:00 PM/12:00 PM Check Availability and Pricing for the hotel on Booking.com or Agoda
