What kind of resort hotel is Furano Resort Orika?
This is a luxury boutique hotel in Furano, Hokkaido. Also, this is one of the auberge hotels. If you are a gourmet, the resort would be perfect. They have a wide selection of wines. Perhaps, if you are looking for 5-star hotels in Furano, this is one of the best places. On the other hand, if you are a hot spring freak, I wouldn’t recommend it. There is no hot spring in-house. The ambiance is elegant, serene, and tranquil. The property would be great for couples, families, small groups, or solo travelers.

Is the location easy to access?
Access to the property would be tricky. I would recommend getting a rental car at New Chitose Airport. It takes 150min by car from the airport. In the case of trains, it takes 180min from the airport. Free shuttle service is available from Naka-Furano Station. You need to book it in advance. Alternatively, you can take a taxi from the station. It takes less than 10min. It costs around JPY1,000. Then if you visit Furano from Sapporo city, you should take a highway Furano bus from the Sapporo Station bus terminal. It takes 130min by bus. Get off at the last stop called Furanoekimae *in front of Furano Station. The bus fare is JPY2,500 per adult. Then take a JR train at Furano Station and get off at Naka-Furano Station. It takes just 10min. The train far is JPY300 per adult.
Where is the best accommodation for anniversary in Hokkaido?
If you are looking for venues for special occasions, the property would the most suitable in Furano. The staff arranges flowers and cakes to celebrate an anniversary at additional charges if you request in advance.
Rooms I would recommend?
If you are going to stay here, I would recommend rooms on a high floor possible. You can view an amazing landscape while chilling out in the rooms. They tend to be cramped. Facilities tend to be outdated, but well-maintained. The housekeeping was excellent.
How about toiletries & in-room amenities?
All of the amenities are taken care of including enough toiletries, yukatas, pajamas, a complimentary minibar including beer and a green tea set, etc. Room service is not available. There is a vending machine for drinks. There is no convenience store nearby. You may want to buy your necessities before coming here. Then CD players, humidifiers, and baby cribs are available for borrowing. The free WiFi reception was good. Also, you can choose either tempur or cypress chip pillow if you request in advance.
How about In-house Facilities?
There are indoor and outdoor communal baths. They are not hot springs, but you can soak in the large baths while viewing an endlessly extending rural landscape. They are open from 5:00-9:00, 15:00-24:00. *Please note that if you have tattoos, you may not be permitted to use the communal ones. Then Furano Resort Orika is a universal design. Wheelchairs are available for borrowing. If you bring people with weak feet, you may want to inform the staff in advance as they can arrange a room near the lift.
How about meals?
The food experience was wonderful. There are 2 restaurants in-house. One is French cuisine, and the other is fusion cuisine. I would recommend the French food on the top floor. *A minimum age requirement of 13 applies. If you bring small children, the fusion cuisine restaurant is available. All local ingredients were so fresh, tasty, and exquisite. They have a nice wine list to complement the meal. *Please note that inform the staff when you book a room with meals if you have any food allergies. They probably wouldn’t be able to prepare alternative food if you request on that day. Then, as far as I know, there wouldn’t be restaurants around the property. You may want to book a room including meals. *You need to check-in by 20:00 if you have dinner on the property.
TOP5 Gourmet Hotels & Ryokans in Hokkaido
All staff tends to be sophisticated. If you expect 5-star hotel service, Furano Resort Orika would be perfect. Overall, the price range would be a bit high if compared to others in Hokkaido, but if you see amazing landscapes from your room, you wouldn’t feel overpriced. It was good without any comparison. Don’t forget to take a walk around the property. It’s like pictures from a storybook. The best season to stay here would be in the summer or the fall season. If you want to see magnificent lavender fields, you should visit here between late June and late July. If you want to see breathtaking autumn foliage, you should visit between late Sep and late Oct. If you visit the Furano area in the summer season, you should get prepared that everywhere would be crowded with tourists. If you want to avoid heavy traffic congestion as much as possible, at least you may want to stay on weekdays, not a weekend or not Japan’s public holidays. Have a nice trip!
