What kind of resort hotel is The Lake View Toya Nonokaze Resort?
This is a typical resort hotel in Hokkaido. The resort wouldn’t be luxury, but very cozy. If this is your first time visiting Hokkaido, the resort would be one of the best. Access to the property is very easy from New Chitose Airport or JR Sapporo Station. Perhaps, if you bring children, the property would be great. This is child-friendly. Staff provides baby cribs, yukatas, and meals for small children if you request in advance. Also, there are some rooms with wonderful private hot springs. The ambiance is lively, cozy-looking, and family-oriented. The hotel would be nice for family, couples, or groups, but not solo travelers.

Is the location easy to access?
Yes, it’s easy. The shuttle service is available from New Chitose airport at 14:00. It costs 1,000JPY for per person. Free shuttle service is available from JR Sapporo Station at 13:30. You need to book it in advance. Don’t forget to make a reservation by 3 days before the check-in date. Also, you need to inform the staff of your expected arrival time in advance.
Rooms I would recommend?
If you are going to stay here, I would recommend a room with a private hot spring in Nonokaze-Club Building. The room is spacious, user-friendly, and modern. We spent a lot of time jumping in and out of our private hot spring while seeing peaceful views of Lake Toya. The spring quality was perfect.
How about toiletries & in-room amenities?
All of the amenities are taken care of including toiletries, yukatas, bathrobes, pajamas, samue outfits, a coffee mill with beans and a Japanese tea set, etc. You can travel light. Then room service is not available. Complimentary coffee is available at the library on 7F. The free WiFi reception was a bit slow in our room. I noticed that some PCs were placed to use someone on 1F.
How about In-house Facilities?
There are some amazing large outdoor and indoor communal hot springs on the top floor. We chilled out at the bath while viewing a breathtaking sunset. That’s precious time. Also, there are unique indoor communal hot springs on 2F. All of them are open from 4:00-11:00, 15:00-26:30. On top of that, there are two private family hot springs in-house. They cost 3,000JPY for 50min. Two of them are open from 16:00-24:00. *Please note that if you have tattoos and want to use the communal baths, use reserved private family ones, or book a room with a private one. Then this is dog-friendly. There are some rooms where you can stay with your dogs. Also, there is a restaurant in-house where you can have meals with your dogs. Then The Lake View Toya Nonokaze Resort is a universal design. There are some rooms for wheelchair users. Also, wheelchairs are available for borrowing. If you bring people with weak feet, you might want to inform the staff in advance as they can arrange a room near the lift. Then there is a vending machine for drinks. There is a convenience store nearby.

How about meals?
French food experience for dinner and breakfast was simply wonderful. We fully enjoyed Japanese-style French cuisine at Kaze no Oto on 2F. The food tends to be sophisticated, exquisite, and presented beautifully. If you are a gourmet, I would recommend it. The ambiance would be for adults. *You need to book a table in advance. The French and the Japanese kaiseki restaurants have a minimum age requirement of 13 applies. If you bring small children, the buffet-style restaurant on 1F would be great. There are food sections for children too. You can have meals while viewing a peaceful Lake Toya in good weather. *You need to check in by 20:30 if you have dinner on the property. Alternatively, you can go out for dinner as there are some local restaurants around there, but if you bring small children, you may want to have meals in the property. Because there wouldn’t be restaurants for families with children.
The staff tends to be patchy. There would be a shortage of staff, especially during the busy season. If you expect 5-star hotel service, this is not. Then the property would be very busy during Lunar New Year, late April to early May, the third week of July to late Aug, weekend in Oct and Nov, and the end of the year and New Year holiday. You might want to avoid staying during these periods. At last, don’t forget to check the weather forecast. That’s the most important if you want to see amazing views of Lake Toya. Have a nice trip!
