SORA Togetsuso Kinryu Ryokan

If you are looking for modern ryokans with beautiful traditional gardens in Shuzenji, you should stay at SORA Togetsuso Kinryu Ryokan.  We were overwhelmed by the beauty of the garden when we visited in the fall season.  We chilled out at the terrace while seeing colored carps swim so beautifully and elegantly.  Perhaps, if you are looking for rooms with private hot springs, I would highly recommend it.  There are some rooms with wonderful private ones.  This would be great for couples, families, small groups, or solo travelers.  Also, this is child-friendly.  Staff can provide meals, yukatas, and futons if you request in advance.  Then if you are going to stay here, I would highly recommend booking a room on 6F or 7F.  You can see a peaceful forest from the rooms while hearing white noise.  If you are a hot spring lover, you may want to book a room with an outdoor private hot spring.  On the other hand, I wouldn’t recommend standard rooms on 2F.  The view wouldn’t be special.  Most of rooms are Japanese minimalistic, functional, and cozy.  Facilities tend to be a bit outdated.  There were several parts they haven’t renovated, but the housekeeping was excellent.  Then if you don’t want to sleep on Japanese-style mattresses in tatami rooms, you may want to find others as there is no room with western beds.  Then Free Wifi reception was good around the lobby, but it was very slow in our room when we stayed in 2018.  Also, all of the amenities are taken care of including minimum toiletries, yukatas, and a Japanese tea set.  Room service is not available.  Complimentary milk, English tea, match tea, orange juice, guava juice are available at the lounge near the lobby.  The lounge is open from 15:00-17:00, 19:00-20:45.  Also, complimentary Black Bean Tea is available near the communal baths.  There is a vending machine for drinks.  There is no convenience store nearby.  You may want to buy your necessities before coming here.  Then there are indoor and outdoor communal hot springs on 5F.  All of them are open from 5:30-9:30, 15:00-24:30.  Also, there are two amazing outdoor private family hot springs in-house.  They cost JPY2,000 for 40min.  They are open from 15:00-23:00.  You need to book them when you check-in if you want to try.  We fully enjoyed the private family bath while seeing a sky full of stars.  The water temperature was a bit high, but spring quality was smooth, soft, and moist.  *If you have tattoos and want to use the communal hot springs, use reserved private family baths.  Then the property is almost universal design.  There are lifts.  Wheelchairs are available for borrowing.  If you bring people with weak feet, you may want to book a room with an outdoor private hot spring.  Once you enter your room, you wouldn’t need to move around.  Also, you may want to inform the staff in advance as they can arrange a room near the lift.  Then Japanese kaiseki food was wonderful.  The food tends to be sophisticated.  The portion tends to be big.  Don’t forget to bring your empty stomach.  All meals are served in stylish private rooms or a dining area.  If you book standard rooms, all meals are served in the dining area.  Dinner starts from 18:00 or 19:00.  Breakfast starts from 7:30 or 8:00.  *Please note that inform the staff when you book a room with meals if you have any food allergies.  They probably wouldn’t be able to prepare alternative food if you request on that day.  Then, as far as I know, there wouldn’t be restaurants around here.  Local papa-mama shops are closing early.  If you want to go out for dinner, you can find some local restaurants around Shuzenji Station.  You need to take a taxi from the property, though.  It takes 10min.  It costs around JPY1,500.  Then some staff wouldn’t be sophisticated, but friendly.  I guess it’s OK as this is Shizuoka prefecture.  At last, access to the property would be easy if you take a taxi from Shuzenji Station.   A free shuttle service is not available.  Alternatively, you can take a TOKAI bus for Shuzenji Onsen at the number 1 bus stop in front of Shuzenji Station and then get off at Shuzenji Onsen Bus Stop.  This is the last bus stop.  It takes 10min by bus.  The bus fare is JPY220 per person.  Then just 8min walk from the bus stop to the property.   Alternatively, you can take a TOKAI Bus from Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal to Shuzenji Onsen Bus StopRefer to the info.  It takes 180min by bus.  Have a nice trip!  Welcome to receive any questions about SORA Togetsuso Kinryu Ryokan from the below space.  *All information is as of the date that I posted on my blog.  **Check-in and out times 15:00/10:00  If you check-in after 18:00, you need to inform staff in advance.  Check Availability and Pricing for the property on Agoda or Booking.com
