Oyado Nonohana

Oyado Nonohana

What kind of onsen ryokan is Oyado Nonohana?

If you are looking for an authentic luxury ryokan adventure in Kurokawa Onsen, you should stay here.  We felt the luxury and authenticity at once.  It’s like you’re in another world.  Perhaps if you are looking for rooms with amazing private hot springs, I would recommend it.  On the other hand, if you want to hang out around the center of Kurokawa Onsen in Yukata whenever you like, I wouldn’t recommend it as the property is a little away.  Free shuttle service is available in the daytime, though.  The ambiance is serene, tranquil, and elegant.  It’s like a hideaway for adults.  There are 8 rooms only.  We never met other guests during our stay even though it was fully booked.  Absolutely the property completely emphasizes private experiences for each guest.  It would be great for couples, solo travelers, family, or small groups.  *Children cannot be accommodated here but if you want to bring small children, it would depend on your negotiation.

Is the location easy to access?

Free shuttle service is available from Kurokawa Onsen Bus Stop.  You need to book it in advance.

Where is the best accommodation for anniversary?

If you are looking for unique venues for special occasions in Kurokawa Onsen, the property would be one of the best.  The staff arranges cakes to celebrate an anniversary at an additional charge if you request in advance.

Rooms I would recommend?

If you are going to stay here, I would recommend rooms in the annex.  Each room in the annex has both indoor and outdoor private hot springs.  Each room in the main building has an indoor private hot spring only.  The rooms in the annex tend to be spacious.  The décor is “Japan minimalistic”, but truly relaxing.  The spring quality was simply wonderful.  The water temperature was a bit high.  It would smell a bit strong sulfur.

How about toiletries & in-room amenities?

All of the amenities are taken care of including minimum toiletries, yukatas, samue outfits, and a green tea set, etc.  Also, a DVD player, a Blu-Ray, and a coffee machine were placed in our room.  Then facilities tend to be well maintained.  Floor heating was installed.  The housekeeping was excellent.  Room service is not available.  There is a vending machine for drinks.  There is no convenience store nearby.  You might want to buy your necessities before coming here.  Then free WiFi reception was not available when we stayed at the property in 2017.  I heard that it would be installed around the public area in April 2018.

How about In-house Facilities?

Oyado Nonohana
There are communal indoor and outdoor hot springs.  You can chill out at the baths while enjoying white noise from the river.  The communal outdoor ones are open from 7:00-22:00, and the communal indoor ones are open from 7:00-23:00.  Also, there is a private family hot spring that you can use for free whenever it’s not occupied.  *Please note that if you have tattoos and want to use the communal hot springs, use the private family one instead.  Then Oyado Nonohana is not a perfect universal design, but there is one room for wheelchair users in the annex.  If you bring people with weak feet, you may want to inform the staff in advance as they can arrange a room near the entrance.

How about meals?

The Japanese kaiseki food for dinner and breakfast was wonderful.  The food is a high standard.  You should try it if you are a gourmet.  The portion tends to be average.  All meals are served in a private room.  Dinner starts from 18:00 or 18:30.  Breakfast stars from 8:00 or 8:30.  *Please note that inform staff when you book a room including meals if you have any food allergies.  They probably wouldn’t be able to prepare alternative food if you request on that day.  Then there is no nice restaurant around here.  The location is out of the way.  You may want to book a room with meals.

My impressions

All staff tends to be very warm, helpful, and elegant.  If you expect 5-star hotel service, you should stay here.  Overall, the onsen ryokan has great value for money.  It would be outstanding in Kurokawa Onsen.  We definitely return again.  Anyway, the best season to stay here would be in spring or fall.  You can view breathtaking landscapes while taking a walk in the courtyard.  At last, Kurokawa onsen would be crowded during Lunar New Year, late April to early May, weekends in Oct and Nov, and the end of the year and new year holiday.  If you have a chance to visit Kurokawa Onsen during the above periods, you should stay here as you would be able to escape from the crowds of people that are pulling suitcases around the town.  Have a nice trip!  Welcome to receive any questions about Oyado Nonohana from the below space.  You may want to inform the staff of your expected arrival time in advance.   Check Availability and Pricing for the onsen ryokan on Agoda
