Oyado Nonohana

If you are looking for an authentic luxury ryokan adventure in Kurokawa Onsen, I think you should stay at Oyado Nonohana.  We felt the luxury and authenticity at once.  It’s like you’re in another world.  Perhaps if you are looking for rooms with amazing private hot springs, I would highly recommend it.  On the other hand, if you want to hang out around the center of Kurokawa Onsen in Yukata whenever you like, I wouldn’t recommend it as the property is a little away.  Free shuttle service is available in the daytime, though.  The ambiance is serene, tranquil, and elegant.  It’s like a secret hideaway for adults.  There are 8 rooms only.  We never met other guests during our stay even though it was fully booked.  Absolutely the property completely emphasizes private experiences for each guest.  It would be great for couples, solo travelers, family, or small groups.  *Children cannot be accommodated here but if you want to bring small children, it would depend on your negotiation.  If you are going to stay here, I would highly recommend booking a room in the annex.  Each room in the annex has both indoor and outdoor private hot springs.  Each room in the main building has an indoor private hot spring only.  The room in annex tends to be spacious.  The décor is “Japan minimalistic”, but truly relaxing.  The spring quality was simply wonderful.  The water temperature was a bit high.  It would smell a bit strong sulfur.  Also, there are communal indoor and outdoor hot springs in-house.  You can chill out at the baths while enjoying white noise from the river.  The communal outdoor ones are open from 7:00-22:00, and the communal indoor ones are open from 7:00-23:00.  Also, there is a complimentary private family hot spring in-house that you can use whenever it’s not occupied.  *Please note that if you have tattoos and want to use the communal hot springs, use the private family one instead.  Then all of the amenities are taken care of including minimum toiletries, yukatas, samue outfits, and a green tea set, etc.  Also, a DVD player, a Blu-Ray, and a coffee machine were placed in our room.  Then facilities tend to be well maintained.  Floor heating was installed.  The housekeeping was excellent.  Room service is not available.  There is a vending machine for drinks.  There is no convenience store nearby.  You might want to buy your necessities before coming here.  Then Oyado Nonohana is not a perfect universal design, but there is one room for wheelchair users in the annex.  If you bring people with weak feet, you may want to inform the staff in advance as they can arrange a room near the entrance.  Then free WiFi reception was not available when we stayed at the property in 2017.  I heard that it would be installed around the public area in April 2018.  Then the Japanese kaiseki food for dinner and breakfast was wonderful.  The food is a high standard.  You should try it if you are a gourmet.  The portion tends to be average.  All meals are served in a private room.  Dinner starts from 18:00 or 18:30.  Breakfast stars from 8:00 or 8:30.  *Please note that inform staff when you book a room including meals if you have any food allergies.  They probably wouldn’t be able to prepare alternative food if you request on that day.  Then there wouldn’t be restaurants around here.  The location is out of the way.  You may want to book a room with meals.  Then all staff tends to be very warm, helpful, and elegant.  If you expect 5-star hotel service, you should stay here.  Overall, Oyado Nonohana has great value for money.  It would be outstanding in Kurokawa Onsen.  Anyway, the best season to stay here would be in spring or fall.  You can view breathtaking landscapes while taking a walk in the courtyard.  At last, Kurokawa onsen would be very crowded during Lunar New Year, late April to early May, weekends in Oct and Nov, and the end of the year and new year holiday.  If you have a chance to visit Kurokawa Onsen during the above periods, you should stay at the property as you would be able to escape from the crowds of people that are pulling suitcases around the town.  Have a nice trip!  Welcome to receive any questions about the property from the below space.  *Check-in and out times 3:00 PM/11:00 AM You may want to inform staff of your expected arrival time in advance.  **All information is as of the date that I posted on my blog.  Check Availability and Pricing for the ryokan on Booking.com or Agoda
