Amakusa Tenku no Fune

What kind of resort is Amakusa Tenku no Fune?

Amakusa Tenku no Fune is one of the best in Kyushu.  This is an amazing boutique resort with magnificent views.  It’s like a postcard.  If you are looking for a rejuvenating and refreshing oasis from the hustle and bustle of city life, I would recommend it.  Perhaps, if you are looking for modern rooms with private hot springs, you should stay here.  Each room has an amazing outdoor bath.  The spring quality is simply wonderful.  The water temperature tends to be a bit high.  We spent a lot of time jumping in and out of our private ones.  Once you enter your room, you wouldn’t feel like going out until check-out time.  The property would be great for romantic couples, groups, or families.  If anything, the ambiance would be for adults, but this is child-friendly.  Staff can provide meals, amenities, and samue outfits for small children if you request in advance.  Once we arrived at the property, we were escorted to a modern room with a breathtaking view.  We were overwhelmed by the beauty of the blue ocean.

Is the location easy to access?

Access to the resort would be inconvenient.  It takes 90min by bus from Kumamoto city.  A free shuttle service is available from Matsushima Port.  You need to book it in advance.  I would recommend getting a rental car in the city or at Kumamoto Airport if you stay more than 2 nights.

Where is the best accommodation for anniversary in Kyushu?

If you are looking for venues for special occasions, the property would be one of the best.  The staff arranges flowers and cakes to celebrate an anniversary at additional charges if you request in advance.

Rooms I would recommend?

If you are going to stay here, I would recommend villas.  You can chillax to the max at the villa with a beer in hand while soaking in a private outdoor bath.  We fully enjoyed white noise from the ocean and starry sky, such an extraordinary experience.  It was good without any comparison.  On the other hand, I wouldn’t recommend the rooms in the main building.  It seems that they have no latest soundproofing.  Your ear may catch some footsteps from the upstairs and slamming doors.  Then I noticed that the building inducing interior, furniture, and facilities, etc., was a bit worn out.  Check Availability and Pricing for the hotel on Booking.com or Agoda

How about toiletries & in-room amenities?

All of the amenities are taken care of including enough toiletries, bathrobes, pajamas, tea bags, a complimentary mini-bar including beer, wine, champagne, a Nespresso machine with 8 capsules, and chocolate, etc.  Also, a humidifier, a Blu-ray player, a CD player, etc., were placed in our room.  Then room service is not available.  The free WiFi reception was good in the property.

How about In-house Facilities?

The swimming pool at the main building is available during the summer season only.  You need to bring swimwear, etc. if you want to use it.  Then Amakusa Tenku no Fune is not universal design, but staff can send you by resort cart when you move around in-house.   There is no lift.  If you bring people with weak feet, you may want to inform the staff in advance.   Once you enter your room, you wouldn’t need to move around.  Unluckily there is no lounge and no library to chill out while drinking and eating.  There is no communal hot spring on-site.  Also, there is no convenience store nearby.  You may want to buy your necessities before coming here.

How about meals?

Italian food using many local ingredients for dinner and breakfast is truly fantastic.  If you are a gourmet, you should stay here.  They have a nice wine list to complement the meal.  The portion tends to be big.  Don’t forget to bring your empty stomach.  Also, buffet-style Italian food for breakfast is great.  All meals are served at the restaurant.  If you bring small children, they are served in a private room.  *Please note that inform the staff when you book a room with dinner if you have any food allergies.  They probably wouldn’t be able to prepare alternative food if you request on that day.  Then, as far as I know, there wouldn’t be restaurants around the property.  The location is out of the way.  You may want to book a room including meals unless you have a car.

My impressions

Staff tends to be warm, helpful, and attentive, but if you cannot find English speakers at the front desk, you might want to write on paper what you want to say.  Most of the staff would understand English sentences.  I hope you don’t mind.  Overall, Amakusa Tenku no Fune has great value for money, so it wouldn’t be easy to book a room, especially weekends.  The best season to stay here would be except for the summer season.  There would be many bugs around the balcony in summer.  The property with wonderful views is located in rich nature.  It cannot be helped.  On top of that, the weather is very hot and humid during the season.  You may feel reluctant to soak in the private bath on hot days.  At last, don’t forget to check a weather forecast before booking a room.  That’s the most important.  Have a nice trip!  Welcome to receive any questions about Amakusa Tenku no Fune from the below space.  If you check-in after 19:30, you may want to inform the staff in advance.  Check Availability and Pricing for the hotel on Booking.com or Agoda
