What kind of accommodation is sankara hotel & spa Yakushima?
This is a 5-star resort villa for adults in the southern islands. The villa is a perfect venue if you are looking for a refreshing and rejuvenating oasis from hustle and bustle of city life. It feels like the time stopped flowing here. The blue ocean and sky were beyond my expectations. The blue gradation is so beautiful. The ambiance is serene, tranquil, and relaxed. There are only 29 rooms. The small resort would be great for romantic couples, families, solo travelers, or small groups. *A minimum age requirement of 13 applies
Is the location easy to access?
Yes, free shuttle service is available from Yakushima Airport. You need to book it in advance. It takes 40min by car from the airport.
Where is the best accommodation for anniversary in Kyushu?
If you are looking for venues for special occasions, the villa would be one of the best. The staff arranges flowers and cakes to celebrate an anniversary at additional charges if you request in advance.
Rooms I would recommend?
If you are going to stay at the hotel, I would recommend rooms with ocean views. Some rooms are facing the forest. You can chill out at the room with a beer in hand while viewing a peaceful blue ocean and a clear blue sky. That’s precious time. The room is spacious, functional, and comfortable. It’s a lovely place, well designed and decorated. Check Availability and Pricing for the hotel on Booking.com or Agoda
How about toiletries & in-room amenities?
All of the amenities are taken care of including enough toiletries, pajamas, bathrobes, a Japanese tea set, herb tea, welcome fruit, champagne, and a complimentary minibar including beer, etc. Also, a DVD player, a CD player, a Bluetooth speaker, and a dehumidifier were placed in our room. *You need to request in advance if you use the Bluetooth speaker. Complimentary coffee, English tea, wine, Japanese sake, cookies, and soft drinks, etc., were available at the library lounge between 10:00 and 17:00. Room service is available from 10:00-22:00. Turn down service is available. The Free WiFi reception was slow when we stayed in 2017. I noticed that a computer was placed in the lobby to use someone.
How about In-house Facilities?
sankara hotel & spa Yakushima is a perfect universal design. Wheelchairs are available for borrowing. If you bring people with weak feet, you may want to inform the staff in advance as they can arrange a room near the lift. Then there is a wonderful swimming pool, a small gym, a Laundromat, and a spa in-house. Swimwear, swim caps, swimming goggles, running shoes, and sportswear, etc., are not available for rent. You need to bring yours. The gym is open for 24H. Then mountain bikes are available for rent. It costs 1,000JPY for one time. If you are planning to go to Yakushima for a trekking trip, you may want to ask the staff to arrange mountaineering equipment for rent in advance. Then there is no convenience store nearby. You may want to buy your necessities before coming to the island.
How about meals?
This is one of the best auberge hotels in Japan. If you are a gourmet, you must be happy. The French food experience using lots of local ingredients for dinner and breakfast was just divine. I would say that the food is equivalent to Michelin 1 or 2 stars. All meals are serviced in the restaurant. Breakfast starts at 7:00. Lunch starts at 12:00. Dinner starts at 18:00. *Please note that inform the staff when you book a room with meals if you have any food allergies or dietary needs. They probably wouldn’t be able to prepare alternative food if you request on that day. Then, as far as I know, there is no restaurant around here. You may want to book a room with meals.
The most important I would like to highlight is butler service was surprisingly professional. If you expect 5-star hotel service, you should stay here. It was good without any comparison. Overall, the performance of the service, food, and facilities was way much above expectations. The resort must leave a lasting impression. We definitely return again next year. Anyway, the best season to stay here would be in spring or fall. On the other hand, I wouldn’t recommend visiting Yakushima during the rainy season between June and July, and the typhoon season between mid-July and Sep. Flights often tend to be canceled. Then the island would be crowded from late April to early May, the third week of July to mid-Oct, and the end of the year and new year holidays. If you want to relax in a tranquil atmosphere, you may want to avoid staying during the above periods. At last, don’t forget to check a weather forecast before booking a room. That’s the most important. Have a nice trip! Welcome to receive any questions about sankara hotel & spa Yakushima from the below space. You need to inform the staff of your expected arrival time.
