Wasureno Sato Gajoen

What kind of onsen ryokan is Wasureno Sato Gajoen?

This is very unique.  If you love traditional Japanese mountain hut-style ryokans, you should stay at Wasureno Sato Gajoen.  This is like a small Japanese traditional village.  We were so excited to explore in-house.  Once we entered the gate, we felt that we were being pulled into old-Japan.  Perhaps, if you are a hot spring freak, I would recommend it.  The spring quality is surprisingly amazing, very creamy, moist, and smooth.  You wouldn’t be able to forget 100% pure hot springs forever.  On the other hand, if you are looking for modern ryokans, this is not.  The property wouldn’t be a luxury.  Perhaps, if this is your first time staying at ryokans, I wouldn’t recommend it.  Facilities tend to be a bit worn-out.  The ambiance is truly tranquil, cozy, and relaxed.  It would be great for couples, families, solo travelers, or small groups.  Check Availability and Pricing for the property on HP

Is the location easy to access?

Yes, access to the property would be easy.  It takes 15min by TAXI from Kagoshima airport.  It costs around 2,000JPY.  A free shuttle service is not available.

Rooms I would recommend?

If you are going to stay here, I would recommend rooms with private hot springs.  You can relax while soaking in the bath and hearing white noise whenever you like.  That’s precious time.  On the other hand, I wouldn’t recommend rooms without private hot springs.  You may feel inconvenient  Then If you don’t want to sleep on Japanese-mattresses in tatami rooms, you may want to find others.  There is no room with twin beds.

How about toiletries & in-room amenities?

All of the amenities are taken care of including minimum toiletries, yukatas, pajamas, samue outfits, and a Japanese tea set, etc.  The free WiFi reception was good in the property.  Room service is not available.  There is no vending machine on-site but there are complimentary sherry, lemon water, steamed black sugar bread, and steam sweet potatoes, etc.  Also, there is no convenience store within walking distance.  You may want to buy your necessities before coming here.

How about In-house Facilities?

There is no communal hot spring, but there are 3 complimentary wonderful private family hot springs that you can use whenever they are not occupied.  Don’t forget to try all of them.  They are open from 15:00-12:00 the following morning.   All of them have no body-washing areas, no showers, no soaps, no shampoo, etc.  You may want to wash at your private bath in your room before going to the private family ones.  The water temperature tends to be lukewarm.  The spring quality is one of the best in Japan.  Then Wasureno Sato Gajoen is not universal design and there are some steps.  If you bring people with weak feet, you may want to find others.

How about meals?

The local food experience for dinner and breakfast was wonderful.  All local ingredients were amazingly fresh.  It seems that the property has a self-sufficient lifestyle.  If you are health-conscious, you must be happy.  The portion tends to be big but you won’t be able to resist even you are full.  Don’t forget to bring your empty stomach.  After dinner, complimentary Japanese sake was served at the Irori table.  Dinner is served in your room.  Breakfast is served in a dining area.  *Please note that inform the staff when you book a room with meals if you have any food allergies.  They probably wouldn’t be able to prepare alternative food if you request on that day.  Then, as far as I know, there wouldn’t be restaurants around the property.  The location is out of the way.  You may want to book a room including meals.

My impressions

Staff tends to be not sophisticated, but friendly and helpful.  If you expect 5-star hotel service, this is not.  If you are are the type of person who can enjoy inconveniences, the property would be truly fantastic.  Overall, you may feel overpriced, but the experience is pure Japan and should definitely be tried.  Anyway, the best season to stay here would be except for the summer season.  Kagoshima prefecture is much hotter and humid than Tokyo in summer.  You may feel reluctant to soak in hot springs on hot days.  At last, before booking a room, don’t forget to check a weather forecast.  This is a lovely place to take a walk and well designed and decorated.  You can fully enjoy hanging out around here in good weather.  Have a nice trip!  Welcome to receive any questions about Wasureno Sato Gajoen from the below space.   Check Availability and Pricing for the property on HP
