Hotel Kazahaya

If you are looking for a boutique hotel in Oita prefecture, I would highly recommend it. This is kind of a mix of hotels and ryokans.  The location is 60min drive away from Yufuin, or 130min from Hakata station by train.  When we visited around the hotel in Hita Mamedamachi, we felt that we were being pulled into old-Japan.  We were exited to hang out around the historical town.   On the other hand, if you are a hot spring lover, this is not.  There is no amazing hot spring in-house.  You must stay in Kurokawa Onsen.  The ambience in the hotel is truly sophisticated, tranquil, and serene.  There are 6 rooms only here and we never met other guests except the restaurant.  Also there is no lobby in the hotel.  This is absolutory like a secret hideaway for adults.  Staff welcomed us with warmly and we didn’t feel like we were checking in a hotel, it was like we were being welcome back home.  The property would be great for couples, small groups or solo travelers.  If you want to bring small kids, I wouldn’t recommend it as you may feel uncomfortable.  Then there is a universal design room and there are few steps in-house.  Also there are some wheelchairs provided for rent.  You might want to inform staff of it in advance if you need.  Then if you bring people with weak feet, you might want to request a room on 1F.   All of the amenities are taken care of including minimum toiletries, yukatas, a green tea set, a humidifier etc.  In particular, the quality of yukatas, towels, bed sheets, etc., tends to be high standard.  Then please note that there is no convenience store nearby.  You might want to buy your necessities before coming here.  Also Wifi reception was good in-house.  Then there are public inner herb Jacuzzi baths in-house.  You must try it as you would be able to relax while soaking in the bath after long day out.  This is not a hot spring, though.  Then food experience for dinner and breakfast was just divine.  Especially Japanese cuisine for breakfast was top notch.  It’s truly worth it.  The portion tends to be average.  All meals are served at the restaurant in the annex.  After dinner and breakfast, staff provided coffee at the library lounge.  Also you can bring your own alcoholic drinks here and enjoy your precious time.  Then all staff tends to be sophisticated, elegant, and helpful.  If you expect a 5 star service, you must stay here.  In particular, the software would be impeccable.  On top of that, it has great value for money.  There are many return guests staying here.  Only my issue is that the building has no enough soundproofing.  My ears sometimes caught the sound of slamming doors during my stay.  Also it wouldn’t be easy to find the parking lot.  If you visit here by car, you might want to make sure where it is located.  Then most of shops, restaurants, cafes etc., around the hotel are closed at 5:00PM.  You might want to have for dinner in the hotel.  Anyway the best season to visit here would be in fall, especially the second Friday, Saturday and Sunday of November.  “One thousand year light festival” is held during the period.  You must join it.  Actually there are some amazing events in Hita City all year round.  You must check it before visiting here.  At last, don’t forget to try “Hita Yakisoba”  Have a nice trip!  Welcome to receive any questions about the property from the below space.  *All information is as of the date that I posted on my blog.  **Check in and out times 3:30PM/11:30AM   ***The payment is cash only.  Check Availability and Pricing for the ryokan on or Agoda
