If you are looking for cozy ryokans in Hiroshima, I would highly recommend it. Perhaps, if you love seafood, you must stay here. Are you a gourmet? If so, this is absolutory a lovely place. On top of that, the property has good value for money. Perhaps, if you are looking for a room with a private hot spring, I would highly recommend it. On the other hand, if you are looking for a luxury ryokan, this is not. I would rather recommend Migiwatei Ochi Kochi nearby. Keishokan Sazanamitei would be great for families with kids, solo travelers, couples, or small groups. The ambiance is tranquil, cozy, and friendly. If you are going to stay here, I would highly recommend booking a room with a private hot spring in the main building. You will be able to see peaceful landscapes while soaking in the bath. On the other hand, I wouldn’t recommend rooms in the annex. You need to walk for a while when you move around. It wouldn’t be convenient and you may feel troublesome. On top of that, the views from the annex are not so nice. The building tends to be outdated but some interior, furniture, decorations, etc., were renovated. Rooms tend to be a bit worn out but well-maintained and clean. If you feel awful when you sleep on Japanese-style mattresses in tatami rooms, you might want to request two mattress layers in advance, or you can book a room with twin beds. Then all of the amenities are taken care of including minimum toiletries, yukatas, a Japanese tea set, a humidifier, etc. There are many colorful yukatas provided for women as you can choose. Then if you bring small kids, you may want to inform staff of it in advance as they can prepare some items for kids in your room, such as yukatas, futons, slippers, etc. Then there is a convenience store nearby. There is a vending machine for drinks. Room service is not available. The wifi reception was good in our room of the main building. Then the property is almost universal design. There are few steps in-house. There is a wheelchair provided for rent. If you bring people with weak feet, you may want to book a room in the main building and inform staff of it in advance as they can arrange a room near the lift. Then there are public inner and outdoor hot springs with nice views on 6F in the main building. They are open from 5:00-9:30, 15:00-24:00. Then there are two private family ones as well. It costs 2,000JPY for 40min. They are open from 15:30-21:00. *Please note that if you have tattoos and want to use the public hot springs, use reserved private family baths, or book a room with a private one attached. Also the swimming pool in the sister inn “Hotel Ofutei” is available from mid July to late Aug. Then seafood kaiseki food using a lot of local ingredients was just divine. All ingredients were very fresh. They can also arrange Hiroshima beef if you request 3 days in advance. The portion tends to be big. After dinner, the staff prepared some rice balls for a night snack. All meals are served in a private room or a dining area. Dinner starts at 18:00 or 19:00. Breakfast starts at 7:00. *Please note that inform staff when you book a room with meals if you have any food allergies or dietary needs. Then you need to check in by 18:30 if you have for dinner here. Actually, there are few restaurants for dinner around the property. Most of them are closed before 19:00. You may want to book a room including meals. They probably wouldn’t be able to prepare it if you request it on that day. Then all staff is very warm, friendly, and proactive. They wouldn’t be sophisticated but if you want to experience signature Japanese hospitality with a personal touch, you may want to stay here. Overall, for this price, the performance of the service, food, staff, etc., was way above my expectations. Absolutely it’s worth staying here when you visit Hiroshima. FYI, free shuttle service is available from the North Entrance of JR Fukuyama Station at 12:00, 14:40, or 16:10. You need to book it in advance. Then if you drive a car, you might want to inform staff of it as the parking lot is about four hundred meters ahead of the property. Make sure of the location on your map in advance.
