Kanaya Hotel Kinugawa

Kanaya Hotel Kinugawa

What kind of onsen hotel is Kanaya Hotel Kinugawa?

This is one of the luxury modern ryokans in Nikko, Kinugawa.  If you have a chance to visit Nikko, I would recommend it.  There are 41 rooms only.  Everything, such as hospitality, service, decorations, ambiance, and food is impeccable.  It would be hard to compare to other places.  Perhaps, if you are looking for rooms with private hot springs, you should stay here.  You can chill out in the bath while viewing peaceful mountains.  Perhaps, if you are looking for venues for special occasions, the property would be perfect.  Once you enter the hotel, it’s like you’re in another world.  We almost forgot we were in Kinugawa Onsen during our stay.  Sincere and wonderful first-class hospitality greeted us the moment we started parking our car in front of the entrance.  The ambiance is serene, tranquil, and relaxed.

Is the location easy to access?

Yes, it would be very easy.  It takes less than 5min on food from Kinugawa Onsen Station.  Alternatively, a free shuttle service is available if you request.

Rooms I would recommend?

If you are going to stay here, I would recommend staying in rooms on the high floor possible.  All rooms are facing the Kinu River, so you can view mountains.  We fully enjoyed beautiful views on the terrace with a beer in hand when we visited in the fall season.

Is this child-friendly?

The onsen hotel would be for adults, but this is child-friendly.  Staff can provide baby cots, yukatas, and meals for small children at an additional cost if you request in advance.  You can bring baby food and ask the staff to heat it.  *One child (age 0) per adult will be free of charge for co-sleep.

How about toiletries & in-room amenities?

All of the amenities are taken care of including enough toiletries, bathrobes, pajamas, yukatas, bottled water, tea bags, Japanese sweets, and a green tea set.  Also, there were SHISEIDO amenities and skincare products in our bathroom.  Complimentary coffee, tea, and fresh juice are available at the lounge on 1F.  Room service is available.  There is a convenience store within 10min walking.  The free Wi-Fi reception was good.  Each room has a free tablet.

How about In-house Facilities?

Overall, facilities tend to be the latest.  There are large indoor and outdoor communal hot springs with saunas.  Spring quality wouldn’t be special, though.  *If you have tattoos, you may not be permitted to use the communal bathing area.  You may want to book a room with a private one.   Also, the spa treatment in-house is available.  You need to make an appointment by e-mail at kanayare@kanaya1931.com  Then Kanaya Hotel Kinugawa is a universal design.  Wheelchairs are available for borrowing.  If you bring people with weak feet, you may want to inform the staff in advance as they can arrange a room near the lift.

How about meals?

The food experience was just divine. If you are a foodie, you should try it.  Dinner is a fusion of Japanese and Western.  Appetizers and Aperitifs were served first while relaxing at the lounge, and then we moved to a private room in a dining area.  The portion tends to be average.  After dinner, we moved to a chocolate bar and enjoy John Kanaya Brand Chocolates all you want to.  Don’t forget to try special whiskey-bonbon.  When we went back to our room, some rice balls were served.  It’s couldn’t be better.  If you have dinner on the property, you need to check-in by 18:00.  Then, you can choose Japanese or Western food for breakfast.  All meals are served in a private room or dining area.  If you are a solo traveler, you would be able to request meals served in your room.  *Please note that inform the staff when you book a room with meals if you have any food allergies.  Alternatively, you can go out for meals as there are some local restaurants, such as Izakaya, etc. around Kinugawa Onsen Station.

My impressions

Overall, the property would be sophisticated.  If you want to get much of an immersive “first-class” experience in Kinugawa, it’s well worth staying here.  At last, we always visit Nikko and Kinugawa areas in the fall season because Autumn leaves in the mountains are amazing, but as you expect, those areas would be very crowded during this season on weekends and Japan’s public holidays.  You might want to visit on weekdays as much as possible.  Have a nice trip!  Welcome to receive any questions about Kanaya Hotel Kinugawa from the below space.  Check Availability and Pricing for the hotel on Agoda
