This is my cup of tea. The resort hotel opened in April 2018. If you are looking for luxury boutique modern hotels in Karuizawa, I would highly recommend Kyukaruizawa Kikyo, Curio Collection by Hilton. The hotel is one of the best in Karuizawa. To be frank, it would be the best in Hilton brand hotels in Japan. Also, the location is perfect. It takes 15min on food from Karuizawa Station. On the other hand, if you want to enjoy hot springs, or if you are looking for rooms with private hot springs in Karuizawa, I really think you should stay at Karuizawa Marriott Hotel as there are some rooms with private hot springs and communal ones on-site. Unluckily, Kyukaruizawa Kikyo, Curio Collection by Hilton has no hot spring. If you are a hot spring freak, you may feel bored. Then this would be great for couples, solo travelers, business persons, small groups, or family. Also, this is child-friendly. Staff can provide toothbrushes, slippers, and cribs, etc., for small children if you request in advance. The ambiance is serene, elegant, and relaxed. If you are going to stay here, I would highly recommend booking a room with a balcony. You can fully enjoy white noise from the forest while chilling out on the balcony. Facilities tend to be the latest. The room is spacious, functional, and modern. All of the amenities are taken care of including enough toiletries, pajamas, bathrobes, a coffee machine with capsules, tea bags, dry fruit snacks, chocolates, and a complimentary minibar including local beer, whiskey, and brandy, etc. There were Maison Mergiela amenities in the bathroom. Then if you are a member of Hilton Honors, complimentary wine, beer, coffee, fresh juice, and tea, etc., are available at KIKYO lounge. It’s open from 13:30-22:00. *You can register for Hilton Honors for free. Regardless of the level, the lounge, free WiFi, and welcome drink with canapés, etc., would be available for free. Also, I noticed that some PCs were placed at the lounge for someone to use. Then room service is available from 7:00-10:00 for breakfast and 17:30-22:00 for dinner. You need to book it by 21:00 one day before. Then there is a small gym, communal baths, and saunas on B1. The gym is open for 24H. Sportswear, shoes, and T-shirts, etc., are not available for rent. You may want to bring your own. Then the communal baths are open from 6:00-10:00, 15:00-24:00. They are not hot springs, though. *If you have tattoos, you may not be permitted to use the communal bathing area. Also, bicycles are available for borrowing. “First-come-first-served.” Then the property is universal design. There are rooms for wheelchair users. If you bring people with weak feet, you may want to inform the staff in advance as they can arrange a room near the lift. Then a French-style buffet experience for breakfast was just divine. The selection of food wouldn’t be much but each dish is very high-end. You can choose your egg, such as scrambled, egg cocotte, and croque-madame. If you are a gourmet, you should try it. Alternatively, there are some local restaurants and cafes around the property. You can go out for meals. Then all staff tends to be sophisticated. If you expect 5-star hotel service, you should stay here. Overall, the hotel has great cost performance. I noticed that there were many return guests here. Then the location is a 15min-walk from Karuizawa Station. A free shuttle service is available from the station. You need to book it in advance. *No free shuttle service from the hotel. Then please note that the hotel is one of the well-known venues for wedding parties in Karuizawa. If you want to relax at the property in a tranquil atmosphere, you might want to avoid staying on weekends and Japan’s public holidays from late April to late Aug, and from Oct to mid-Nov. Everywhere in Karuizawa would be crowded during the above periods. At last, the best season to stay here would be in spring or fall. You can chill out in a beautiful courtyard in good weather while having coffee. It couldn’t be better. Have a nice trip!
