If you are looking for modern onsen ryokans in Kobe, I would highly recommend it. Perhaps, if you don’t have time to visit Arima Onsen, you should stay here. Actually the spring quality wouldn’t be special, but the property would be amazing if you want to experience onsen ryokans. It opened in 2015. Facilities tend to be the latest. The ambience would be cozy, tranquil and family oriented. The property would be great for family, couples, and small groups, but not solo travelers. *A minimum age requirement of 6 applies. If you are going to stay here, I would highly recommend booking a suite room with a private hot spring and a Harbor view. You can chill out at the terrace with a beer in hand while viewing a wonderful Kobe city view. We were overwhelmed by breathtaking night views. That’s the precious time. The room is modern, relaxed and functional. Wifi reception was excellent in the property. On top of that, each room has an iPhone you can complimentary use. All of the amenities are taken care of including enough toiletries, pajamas, yukatas, welcome cookies, bottled water, drip coffee bags, tea bags and a green tea set, etc. There are Ella Bashe bath amenities and POLA skincare products at the bathroom. Then room service is available for guests who stay at suite rooms only. Turn down service is not available. There is no convenience store. There is no vending machine for drinks in-house. You may want to buy your necessities before coming here. Then there are wonderful large public outdoor and indoor hot springs. The water temperature tends to be lukewarm. They are open from 6:00-10:00, 15:00-24:00. *Please note that if you have tattoos and want to use the public hot springs, book a room with a private one. Then there are indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a gym, a yoga studio, mist & dry saunas, and bedrock baths in-house. You can rent sportwear, running shoes, swimwear, swimcaps, and goggles. Then the property is universal design. A wheelchair is available for borrowing. There is a room for wheelchair users. If you bring people with weak feet, you may want to inform staff in advance as they can arrange a room near the lift. Then buffet-style Japanese cuisine for dinner and breakfast was just divine. The ingredients were very high-end including fish, Kobe beef, and vegetables. The buffet would be one of the best in Japan. Don’t forget to bring your empty stomach. You should try, Sukiyaki, Tempura, and Sushi, etc. Dinner starts from 17:30 or 19:40. Breakfast time is from 7:00-10:30. After dinner, don’t forget to visit the bar on the top of floor. The ambience is very nice for adults. Then all staff is very warm, proactive and attentive. If you want to experience signature Japanese hospitality with personal touch, you should stay here. Overall, the property has great cost performance. If this is your first time staying at ryokans, I would highly recommend Kobe Minato Onsen REN. An access to the ryokan would be very easy. Free shuttle service is available from in front of McDonald’s of Sannomiya Station. Anyway if you want to chill out here in a tranquil atmosphere, you may want to stay on weekdays. Also you may want to avoid staying during Lunar New Year, late April to early May, weekends in Oct & Nov, and the end of year and New Year holiday. The property would be very crowded during the above periods more than you expect. Have a nice trip!
