If you are looking for luxury hotels in Unzen, I would highly recommend it. Perhaps, if you are looking for rooms with private hot springs in Nagasaki, I really think you should stay here. Once we entered the lobby, the staff welcomed us very warmly. They were courteous, helpful, and friendly. You can definitely relax while seeing a dynamic Unzen Jigoku. The ambiance is serene, tranquil, and elegant. The hotel would be great for couples, small groups, or solo travelers. *There is no minimum age requirement, but this wouldn’t be child-friendly. Because there are no amenities for small children, no cribs, and no baby chairs, etc. This is like a resort for adults. There are 25 rooms only. Everything, such as the interior, furniture, decorations, and gardens, etc., is sophisticated. This is a modern design expressing unique Japanese sensitivity. If you are going to stay here, I would highly recommend booking a room at 3F, 4F, or 5F. You can overlook amazing views from the terrace. Also, you can soak in your private hot spring with the smell of sulfur while viewing Unzen Jigoku. That’s precious time. The spring quality is good. Facilities tend to be the latest. The wifi reception was excellent when we stayed in 2019. The room is user-friendly, functional, and brand-new. All of the amenities are taken care of including enough toiletries, bathrobes, samue outfits, water bottles, and green tea bags, etc. There were THANN bath amenities in the bathroom. Also, there are POLA skincare products. Room service is not available. There is a vending machine in-house. Then there is a cozy lounge on 6F. Complimentary coffee, tea, and soft drinks are available. Unzen Jigoku is illuminated at night. You can see very mysterious and sacred views from the lounge. Also, there is a café and bar on 2F called The Mellow Ridge. You can complimentary order coffee, tea, and soft drinks. Then the property is not a universal design, but there are few steps. There is a room for wheelchair users. Wheelchairs are available for borrowing. If you bring people with weak feet, you may want to inform staff in advance as they can arrange a room near the lift. The property is very large. Then Japanese western fusion food for dinner was awesome. If you are a gourmet, you must be so happy. All ingredients are so fresh, exquisite, and high-end. Then you can choose Japanese or western cuisine for breakfast. All meals are served in wonderful dining. They only serve a set-course dinner, which begins at 20:00. *Please note that inform staff when you book a room with dinner if you have any food allergies. They probably wouldn’t be able to prepare alternative food if you request on that day. Then, as far as I know, there wouldn’t be nice restaurants near the property. Most of the local papa-mama shops are closing early. You may want to book a room with meals. Then after diner, don’t forget to visit the café and bar on 2F. You can complimentary order wine, shochu, and whiskey, etc., from 20:00-23:00. Overall the price range would be reasonable. If relaxation is your main purpose in rich nature, the property would be perfect in Nagasaki. The resort must leave a lasting impression. One night’s stay wouldn’t be enough. Then access to the property would be a bit hard. You can take a Nagasaki prefectural bus in front of Nagasaki Station. Refer to the timetable. Then get off at the last bus stop “Unzen”. It takes 100min. Bus fare is JPY1,850 per adult. Actually, the bus was shaking a lot on the way to the property. There are many tight curves. We got carsick. Alternatively, a free shuttle service is available from Shimabara Port at 14:45 or Obama Marine Park at 16:00 only. You need to book it if you request. Have a nice trip!
