Amahara

If you are looking for small modern onsen ryokans on Awaji Island, I really think you should stay here.  There are 18 rooms only.  Perhaps, if you are looking for rooms with private outdoor hot springs, I would highly recommend it.  Each room has a private hot spring with a wonderful ocean view.  The property would be great for family, big groups, or couples.  If you are a couple, you may want to stay on weekdays as the property would be much more tranquil.  Then this is child-friendly.  Staff can provide many items for small children, such as amanitas, meals, chairs, and baby bouncers, etc. if you request in advance.  Also, you can complimentary use a kids’ playroom at the sister inn, Hotel new Awaji nearby.  There would be many families with children on weekends.  The ambiance is cozy, family-oriented, and relaxing.  If you are going to stay here, you may want to request a room on a high floor as you can see a beautiful Osaka Bay.  The room is spacious, user-friendly, and functional.  Facilities tend to be a bit worn-out.  The housekeeping was good.  We fully enjoyed our private hot spring with a beer in hand while viewing a blue vast ocean.  That’s precious time.  The spring quality wouldn’t be special, though.  Also if you want to enjoy fishing, you should book a Maisonette Villa-style room on 1F + 2F as there is a private pier.  You can go fishing whenever you like.  Then all of the amenities are taken care of including enough toiletries, yukatas, pajamas, bathrobes, a coffee machine with capsules, water bottle, welcome fruit, and green tea bags, etc.  There are POLA skincare products and bath amenities in the bathroom.  An air cleaner, a DVD player, a CD player, and a Bluetooth speaker were placed in our room.  There are some kinds of pillows you can choose. Wifi reception was good in the property.  Also, a PC is placed near the front desk to use someone.  Room service is available from 14:00-23:00.  Complimentary coffee, tea, and fresh juice are available at the lobby lounge.  Also, complimentary beer, wine, whiskey, brandy, and sake, etc., are available from 20:00-23:00.  You can chill out at the small garden illuminated in front of the lobby lounge while drinking and viewing a sky full of stars.  Then there are 3 sister inns near the property.  You can complimentary use large communal hot springs in the sister inns.  If you are a hot spring freak, you should enjoy “Hot spring hopping”.  *There is no communal one in this property.  **If you have tattoos, you may not be permitted to use the public bathing area.  Also, you can complimentary use a swimming pool in the sister inn, Hotel New Awaji.  It’s open from 7:00-22:00, between July and early Sep.  You may want to bring your own swimwear, etc. if you use it.  Then the property is almost universal design.  If you bring people with weak feet, you may want to book a room on 1F as it would be easy to move around.  Wheelchairs are available for borrowing.  Then the kaiseki food experience was good.  The portion tends to be average.  All meals are served in a dining area.  If you bring small children, they are served in a private room.  Then the western-Japanese style buffet was wonderful.  The food is extensive for a small ryokan.  Dinner time is from 17:30-21:00.  Breakfast time is from 7:00.  *Please note that inform the staff when you book a room with dinner if you have any food allergies.  They probably wouldn’t be able to prepare alternative food if you request on that day.  Then all staff is friendly, warm, and helpful.  You can experience signature Japanese hospitality during your stay.  Overall, the price range would be reasonable.  If relaxation is your main purpose, the property would be absolutory perfect.  Then access to the property would be easy from Kobe or Osaka.  You can take a Shinki Bus, a Minato Kanko Bus, or an Awaji Kotsu Bus at Sannomiya Bus Terminal near JR Sannomiya Station.  Then get off at Sumoto IC bus stop.  It takes around 80min.  Bus far is around JPY2,000 per adult.  A free shuttle service is available from the bus stop.  It takes 5min from the bus stop to the property.  You need to book the shuttle service in advance.  Alternatively, you can take an airport Limousine bus from Kansai International Airport and then get off at Sumoto IC Bus Stop.  It takes 120min.   At last, don’t forget to check the weather forecast.  That’s the most important.  Have a nice trip!  Welcome to receive any questions about the property from the below space.  *All information is as of the date that I posted on my blog.  Check-in and out times 14:00/11:00  Check Availability and Pricing for the property on Booking.com or Agoda
