No doubt this is one of the top-notch ryokans in Japan.  If you have a chance to visit Nara, I would highly recommend it.  Perhaps if you want to get an authentic ryokan adventure, you must stay here.  On the other hand, if you are looking for a modern ryokan, this is not.  Perhaps if you are not so keen on Japanese culture, you might want to stay in the center of Nara City.  The ryokan has 3 rooms only.  It’s like a secret hideaway for adults.  Surprisingly we never met other guests when we stayed here even though it was fully booked.  We felt that we were being pulled into old Japan with the room and the garden all being perfectly Japanese.  The ambiance is serene, solemn, and mysterious.  The property is located in a sacred atmosphere.  It would be great for couples, solo travelers, family, or small groups.  The décor is “Japan minimalistic, but truly relaxing.  No western elements here at all.  Every room is unique and special.  Then all of the amenities are taken care of including toiletries, yukatas, a Japanese tea set, and a humidifier, etc.  Please note that there is no convenience store nearby.  You might want to buy your necessities before coming here.  Then the well-maintained building is aged with a long history but facilities tend to be updated in a room.  When we stayed here in the winter season, we felt comfortable as floor heating was set up in our room.  Also, we could adjust room temperature by ourselves.  It was better than I expected.  Also, wifi reception was good.  All rooms have no TVs and no security boxes.  If you have your valuables, you might want to leave them at the front desk.  Then there are two family private baths in-house.  Two of them are not hot springs.  However, they are so refreshing after a long day out.  They are open between 16:00-23:00.  Then the property is not universal design and there are some steps in-house.  If you bring people with weak feet, you might want to inform staff of it in advance.  Also, staff can provide items for small kids such as meals, chairs, toothbrushes, soaps, etc.  There is no crib provided, though.  Then I noticed that Japanese-style mattresses in tatami rooms tend to be of high quality.  You wouldn’t need to feel awful when you sleep on them.  Then kaiseki food for dinner and breakfast was just divine.  This is one of the well-known gourmet ryokans in Nara.  If you are a gourmet, you must stay here.  It may be a little challenging for western palates but it’s truly worth trying it.  If you prefer western food for breakfast, you can request it beforehand.  All meals are served in a private room.  Then all staff tends to be professional, sophisticated and warm.  You will be able to experience signature Japanese hospitality with personal touch during your stay.  The staff and everyone there is so welcoming and helpful, however, be mindful and respectful of the Japanese traditions here as it’s a very traditional accommodation.  The experience is pure Japan and should definitely be tried.  Anyway, the best season to stay here would be in spring or fall.  You will be able to see beautiful views while taking a walk around there.  The weather is just nice, not so cold and not so hot.  Then access to the property would be easy from Kintetsu-Nara Station, just 10min by TAXI.  *approx.1,000yen  There is no shuttle service.  It would be hard to find the entrance of the property so TAXI would be the best.  At last, the ryokan has lots of return guests.  If you want to stay here in spring or fall, you might want to book a room as soon as you can.  Have a nice trip!  Welcome to receive any questions about the property from the below space.  *All information is as of the date that I posted on my blog.  **Check-in & out times 4:00 PM/10:00 AM Check Availability and Pricing for the hotel on Booking.com or Agoda
