This is not luxury ryokan, but very cozy. If you are looking for small ryokans with peaceful views in Nara, you should stay here. There are 20 rooms only. We fully enjoyed beautiful views while chilling out at our room. On the other hand, if you are looking for authentic ryokans in Nara, this is not. Perhaps, if this is your first time staying at ryokans, I wouldn’t recommend it. Facilities tend to be outdated. The housekeeping was good, though. The property would be great for family, couples, small groups or solo travelers. Also, this is child-friendly. Staff can provide meals, yukatas, chairs, and tableware, etc., for small children if you request in advance. If you are going to stay here, I would highly recommend a room with a Nara city view on the highest floor possible. We could see Nara Park, Todaiji Temple, a five-storied pagoda, and deer from our room in good weather. Then we were overwhelmed by the beauty of sunset. The room is Japanese minimalistic. If you don’t want to sleep on Japanese-style mattresses in tatami rooms, you may want to book a room with twin beds on tatami mats. Free Wi-Fi reception was good in the property. All of the amenities are taken care of including minimum toiletries, yukatas, and a green tea set, etc. Room service is not available. There is no vending machine. There is no convenience store nearby. You may want to buy your necessities before coming here. Then the property is almost universal design. Wheelchairs are available for borrowing. If you bring people with weak feet, you may want to inform staff in advance as they can arrange a room near the lift. Then there are small communal indoor baths in-house. They are not hot springs, though. *If you have tattoos, you may not be permitted to use the communal bathing area. Then local kaiseki food for dinner and breakfast was wonderful. All local ingredients were so fresh and testy. The portion tends to be average. Dinner is served in your room. Breakfast is served in the dining area. *Please note that inform staff when you book a room with meals if you have any food allergies. They probably wouldn’t be able to prepare alternative food if you request on that day. Then as far as I know, there is no nice restaurant around there. You may want to book a room with meals. Then staff tends to be not sophisticated. After dinner, staff can bring you to Nara park, Todaiji Temple and the Great Buddha, etc. It’s complimentary. That’s great experience if this is your first visit Nara. There are some lighted sightseeing spots in Nara city. Those places feel solemn and mysterious. The atmosphere is completely different at night. Then staff tends to be friendly, but not sophisticated. Their service would be more like typical chain hotels rather than the authentic signature Japanese hospitality. If you expect warm hospitality with personal touch, this is not. Also, if you cannot find English speakers at the front desk, you might want to write on paper what you want to say. Most of young staff would understand English sentences. I hope you don’t mind it. Then location is away from Nara Station, but free shuttle service is available from Kintetsu-Nara Station or Nara Station. It takes 10min by car. You need to book it in advance. Alternatively, you can take a taxi from Nara Station. It costs around JPY2,000. At last, the best season to stay here would be in the fall season. You can view beautiful autumn colors from your room. Have a nice trip! Welcome to receive any questions about the property from the below space. *All information is as of the date that I posted on my blog. **Check in and out times 15:00/10:00 You need to inform staff in advance if you check in after 18:00.
