The property just opened in Sep 2017. There are 9 villa-type rooms only. This wonderful ryokan is located deep in the mountains. It’s a long way to go from Nara city. If you are looking for a rejuvenating and refreshing oasis from the hustle and bustle of city life, you should stay here. It’s truly worth it. Perhaps if you are looking for luxury Japanese-style mountain huts with private outdoor hot springs, you should stay here. On the other hand, if you are not so keen on hot springs, I wouldn’t recommend it. The ambiance is serene, tranquil, and peaceful. The ryokan would be great for couples, solo travelers, small groups, or family. *A minimum age requirement of 12 applies. The room is Japan minimalistic, modern, and relaxed. Facilities tend to be the latest. If you want to experience ryokans for the first time without stress, you should stay here. Then each room has an amazing private onsen. The spring quality is absolutory perfect, like skin lotion. Once you try it, you may become a hot spring freak. You will never forget the quality of 100% pure hot springs. You can chill out in the bath under the starry sky while hearing white noise from the river. That’s precious time. Also, don’t forget to try large public hot springs in-house. They are open from 6:00-9:00 and 15:00-22:00. *If you have tattoos, you may not be permitted to use the public bathing area. Then all of the amenities are taken care of including toiletries, yukatas, pajamas, bathrobes, a Japanese tea set, drip coffee bags, and a complimentary mini-bar including beer, etc. Also, there are some colorful Yukatas for women you can choose from. Absolutory you can go travel light. Room service is not available. There is no convenience store nearby. You may want to buy your necessities in Nara city before coming here. Then the property is almost universal design. There are few steps in-house. There is a room for wheelchair users. You might want to inform staff beforehand if you bring people with weak feet as they can arrange a villa near the reception. Then wifi reception was good in our room even though the location is surrounded by rich nature. Then local food experience for dinner and breakfast was just divine. The ingredients were very high-end including beef, fish, vegetables, etc. They have a nice wine and Japanese sake list to complement the meal. All meals are served in a dining area. *Please note that inform staff when you book a room with meals if you have any food allergies. They probably wouldn’t be able to prepare alternative food if you request on that day. Then there wouldn’t be restaurants around the property. The location is deep in the mountains. You may want to book a room including meals. Then staff tends to be very warm, friendly, and helpful, but if you cannot find an English speaker at the front desk, you might want to write on paper what you want to say. Most of the young staff would understand English sentences. I hope you don’t mind. Anyway, the best season to stay here would be in spring or fall. If you want to view the beautiful sakura around here, you should visit between early April and mid April. If you want to see autumn color leaves, you should visit between late Oct and mid Nov. Then access to the property would be inconvenient unless you drive a car. You can take Nara Kotsu Bus from Yamato-Yagi Station in Nara and get off at Totsukawa Murayakuba Bus Stop. It takes 240min by bus. Free pick-up service from Totsukawa Murayakuba Bus Stop is available. You need to book it in advance. If you visit by car, carefully check the location on a map. It would be a bit hard to find it unless you are a local. There are few street lamps and very dark around here at night. You may want to check in earlier if this is your first-time visit here. Refer to the access information. Have a nice trip! Welcome to receive any questions about the property from the below space. *All information is as of the date that I posted on my blog. **Check-in & out times 3:00 PM/10:00 AM If you check-in after 18:00, you need to inform staff in advance.
