If you are looking for European style luxury resort hotels in Okinawa, I would recommend it. The resort opened in 2013. Perhaps, if you are looking for family-oriented resort hotels in Okinawa, you should stay here. It may be a bit hard to go on a trip with small children in Japan, but the staff can provide many items that you might need to travel with them. There is a variety of outdoor kids’ pools, amenities, and activities. This is one of the best child-friendly hotels in Okinawa. *One child (ages 6 and under) per adult will be free of charge for co-sleep. If you are a couple or a group of adults, you may want to stay on weekdays. There are many families on weekends. The ambiance is lively, friendly, and cozy.

Is the location easy to access?
It wouldn’t be easy from Naha Airport. If you get a rental car, it takes around 70min. If you take an airport limousine bus, it takes 75min.
Rooms I would recommend?
If you are going to stay here, I would recommend rooms with views of the ocean on a high floor. If you stay in rooms facing south, you can enjoy viewing a beautiful sunset over the sea in good weather. Also, I would recommend rooms on the Premium Club floor on 12F. Complimentary drinks including Orion beer, wine, awamori at the café called TEA Lounge on 3F between 10:00-22:00 are available. There is no club lounge only for guests who stay on the Premium Club floor. On the other hand, I wouldn’t recommend rooms which are facing the car park.
Is this child-friendly?
Yes, you can pick up amenities for children by yourself near the reception, such as toothbrushes, slippers, and pajamas, etc. Cribs, strollers, and bed guards are available for borrowing if you request in advance. Also, there is a nice kids’ playroom, a kids’ park, kids’ pools, and activates for children. On top of that, you can buy baby food, diapers, and baby formula, etc., at the shop on 3F near the reception.

How about toiletries & in-room amenities?
All of the amenities are taken care of including enough toiletries, pajamas, bathrobes, beach robes, flip flops, beach bags, tea bags, a coffee machine, bottled water, and a Japanese tea set. There are POLA skincare products in the bathroom. The free Wi-Fi reception was OK on the property, but it was often slow at night when we stayed in 2019. Free smartphone service is available. You can use streaming services to watch TV dramas and moves in your room. A DVD player was placed in our room.
How about In-house Facilities?
Overall, facilities tend to be the latest. The concierge desk is available. You can ask the staff about the arrangement of water sports, etc. There are vending machines. There are 3 convenience stores on 3F. There are two laundromats on the Beach Wing 1F and Garden Wing 2F. Then Hotel Monterey Okinawa Spa and Resort is a perfect universal design. There is room for wheelchair users on 3F. If you bring people with weak feet, you may want to inform the staff in advance as they can arrange a room near the lift. The property is large. Wheelchairs are available for borrowing.

Then there are wonderful outdoor swimming pools. They are open between April and Oct. Also, there are indoor swimming pools, hot springs, mist saunas, a yoga studio, and a gym on 2F. All of them costs JPY1,500. All of the outdoor pools only are free. If you stay at “Ocean Bath Rooms”, “Corner Rooms”, or “Rooms on the Club Floor”, you can use all of them for free. Then if you have tattoos, you need to cover them with stickers when you use the swimming pools, the public hot springs, and the saunas, etc. You can buy tattoo stickers at the convenience store on 3F. Then, there is an amazing private beach in front of the property. Don’t forget to bring your swimwear, etc. *Snorkeling is prohibited here.
How about meals?
There are seven restaurants including 3 cafes in-house, such as Japanese, Western, Teppanyaki, and buffet-style. You can choose the buffet or Japanese cuisine for breakfast. The western, Japanese and local cuisine buffet is quite extensive. There was always more than enough food each day. Breakfast time is from 6:30 to 10:30. Then room service is available for guests who stay at Ocean Bath Rooms, Corner Rooms, or Rooms on Club Floor ONLY from 7:00 to 10:00, 18:00 to 21:00. If you request room service for breakfast, you need to inform the staff by 21:00 one day before. Alternatively, you can go out for meals. There are some local restaurants around the property.
My impressions
Overall, the property has great value for money. If you are planning a family vacation in Okinawa, you should stay here. Children wouldn’t get bored during the stay. At last, the property is popular. When we stayed here during the busy season, we needed to make a long line at the reception, the restaurant for breakfast, and the convenience store, etc. If you want to chill out at the property in a tranquil atmosphere, you may want to avoid staying during Lunar New Year, late April to early May, the third week of July to late Aug, and the end of the year and New Year holiday.
