Where to stay in Kyoto
If you are visiting Kyoto for the first time, a hotel near Kyoto Station or in the center of Kyoto City near the station is convenient. On the other hand, if you have visited Kyoto several times, the Higashiyama and Arashiyama areas are recommended. Although the traffic is not very convenient, there are many great sightseeing spots within walking distance. You won’t need to take the train or bus during your stay. Then if you love hot springs, you may want to stay in Arashiyama or Kameoka City.
First time in Kyoto
If this is your first visit to Kyoto, a hotel is better than a ryokan. Unless you have stayed in Japanese inns several times before, a hotel is more convenient. Then although Kyoto is a small city, it is a tourist destination that attracts tourists from all over Japan as well as from all over the world. If you are visiting Kyoto for the first time, it is recommended that you travel on weekdays. Weekends may be crowded, but on weekdays, you will be able to move around the tourist spots smoothly.
Best time to go to Kyoto
Kyoto is a place where you can enjoy the scenery of all four seasons, but spring and autumn are especially wonderful. In spring, the cherry blossoms bloom beautifully, and in autumn, the gardens and mountains turn red and yellow. There are also light-up events at various places. It is fun to take a walk around Kyoto at night. Kyoto is also very hot in summer and very cold in winter. On the contrary, spring and autumn are neither too hot nor too cold, making it ideal for sightseeing.
