What kind of resort is Hotel Orion Motobu Resort and Spa?
The resort is located next to Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium. It wouldn’t be luxury, but one of the very cozy resort hotels in Okinawa. The property opened in July 2014. Facilities tend to the latest. The ambiance is friendly, tranquil, and family-oriented. If you bring children, I would recommend it. Staff can provide items, facilities, and activities for children. This is one of the best family-friendly hotels in Japan. *One child (ages 5 and under) per adult will be free of charge for co-sleep. Then if you are a couple, a solo traveler, or a group of adults, you may want to book suite rooms with access to the club lounge in the Club Wing. There are a nice Infinity pool and a club lounge only for guests of the club wing. Only suite rooms in the Club Wing have a minimum age requirement of 16 applies. On top of that, communal hot springs are available for free. Guests in other wings need to pay JPY1,650. The hot springs are open from 6:00-10:00, 11:30-24:00. *If you have tattoos, you may not be permitted to use the public bathing area.
When we stayed in the Club wing, a staff immediately escorted us to the Club lounge, and we checked in while having coffee with macrons. From the first moment of arriving at the last-minute leaving, we were pampered. We fully enjoyed viewing a blue ocean, a clear sky, and a comfortable breeze at the terrace with a beer in hand.
Then if you want to enjoy water sports in Okinawa, the resort would be perfect. The local tour desk is on the property. Staff can arrange a variety of activities, such as snorkeling, scuba diving, a tour of the islands, and whale watching, etc. It’s open between 10:00 and 19:00.

Is the location easy to access?
No, it wouldn’t be easy from Naha Airport. If you get a rental car, it takes 90min. If you take a YANBARU Express Bus, it takes 150min. Refer to the timetable. Alternatively, you can take an airport limousine bus from the airport. Refer to the info.
Is this child-friendly?
Yes, the property is child-friendly. Cribs, strollers, and bed guards, etc., are available for borrowing if you request in advance. Also, there is a kids’ playroom, pool, and activates for children.

How about toiletries & in-room amenities?
All of the amenities are taken care of including enough toiletries, pajamas, bathrobes, tea bags, a coffee machine with capsules, a complimentary mini-bar including beer, and a Japanese tea set. There were Antica Farmacista amenities in our bathroom. A DVD player, a Blu-Ray player, and a BOSE speaker were placed in our room. There is a convenience store nearby. There are some vending machines for drinks including a beer on each floor.
Then if you stay in the Club wing, complimentary beer, wine, awamori, and soft drinks, etc., are available at the Club lounge. Some sweets are served between 15:00 and 17:00, and finger food is served between 18:00 and 20:00. Also, room service is available only for guests in the Club lounge.
Then free Wi-Fi reception was sometimes slow after 21:00 when we stayed in April 2019. I noticed that a PC with a printer was installed at the club lounge to use someone. Also, there is a laundromat in the Ocean wing. You can use it for free if you stay in the Club wing.
How about In-house Facilities?
There are indoor and outdoor swimming pools. The outdoor ones are open between April and Oct. The indoor ones are open all year round. *If you have tattoos and want to use the swimming pools, you need to wear a “Rash Guard“. Then the property is a perfect universal design. Wheelchairs are available for borrowing. There are universal rooms for wheelchair users. If you bring people with weak feet, you may want to inform the staff in advance as they can arrange a room near the lift.

How about meals?
There are six restaurants including a bar and a café lounge, such as Chinese, western Japanese buffet, local and BBQ restaurants, etc. If you bring small children, you may want to have dinner at SIRIUS or Capella. The kid’s menu is available at two of them. Also, you can order baby food at JPY800. Alternatively, you can buy baby food at the souvenir shop and ask the staff to heat it. Then, as far as I know, there wouldn’t be nice restaurants around the property. You may want to have meals in the resort unless you have a car. You should book a table for dinner in advance. Then if you stay in the Club wing, you can choose room service or the buffet at the restraint for breakfast. I would recommend the former. We fully enjoyed the breakfast on the balcony while viewing a beautiful ocean. That’s precious time. The restaurants for breakfast would be crowded during the busy season.
My impressions
All staff tends to be sophisticated. If this is your first visit to Okinawa, you should ask the staff about the recommended spots. Overall the property has great value. If relaxation is your main purpose, you should stay here. A one-night stay wouldn’t be enough. Enjoy being completely lazy! At last, the property is very popular. If you want to chill out here in a tranquil atmosphere, you may want to avoid staying during Lunar New Year, late April to early May, the third week of July to late Aug, and the end of the year and New Year holiday.
