What kind of onsen ryokan is Yuuki no Sato?
This is a luxury authentic onsen ryokan in Toba. There are 34 rooms only. If you are looking for a room with a private onsen, I would recommend it. There are some wonderful rooms with private ones and peaceful ocean views. The building itself is old, but the inside is nicely renovated and comfortable. Once we arrived at the lobby, staff welcomed us warmly and we didn’t feel like we were checking in a ryokan, it’s like we were being welcomed back home. The service is excellent.
Then if you plan to visit Ise Grand Shrine and Kumano Kodo, it would be one of the best. Also, the property has wonderful outdoor communal hot springs. If you are a hot spring freak, you should stay here. The spring quality is amazing, like skin lotion. The ryokan would be great for couples, solo travelers, or families.

Rooms I would recommend?
If you are going to stay here, I would recommend an executive suite room with a private onsen on a high floor possible. You can fully enjoy soaking in the bath while seeing an ocean view. Overall, facilities tend to be the latest, but it seems that some rooms haven’t been renovated on low floors yet and there is no nice view.
Then if you don’t want to sleep on tatami mats in tatami rooms, you should book a room with twin beds. Most of the rooms have twin beds.
Is this child-friendly?
Yes, the staff arranges amenities, baby cots, chairs, toys, meals, yukatas, etc. at additional charges. If you bring small children, you should inform them in advance.
How about toiletries & in-room amenities?
All of the amenities are taken care of including enough toiletries, yukatas, pajamas, a coffee machine, a Japanese tea set, and tea bags, etc. There are MIKIMOTO amenities in the bathroom. Room service is available between 15:00 and 21:30. Free Wi-Fi was good, but sometimes very weak. A DVD & Blu-ray player, a Dyson hairdryer was placed in our room. There is no convenience store around here. You may want to buy your necessities before coming here. There is no vending machine for drinks.
How about In-house Facilities?
There are amazing outdoor and indoor communal hot springs. Don’t forget to try them even if you have a private onsen in your room. The location is a bit away from the rooms, though. Then there are three private family hot springs. They cost JPY2,200 for 40min. You need to book in advance if you want to use them. *Please note that if you have tattoos, you may not be permitted to use the communal bathing area. Please use the private family ones, instead.
There is a lounge, souvenir shop, spa shop, and terrace with nice views. Also, the hot stoned bath is available at JPY2,200 for 30min. Then you can fish in front of the property and you can rent fishing rods at JPY1,000.
Then if you bring someone with weak legs, you should stay in a room with a private onsen. You wouldn’t need to move around once you enter your room. Then you should inform staff in advance as they arrange a room near a lift. Wheelchairs are available and there is room for wheelchair users.

Then there is a place near the ryokan that takes care of dogs and cats. If you bring yours, you should inform staff in advance.
How about meals?
The local seafood kaiseki using a lot of fresh ingredients is wonderful. The portion tends to be big. All meals are served in a private room or your room. It depends on which room you stay in. If you want to dine in a private room with a view of the ocean, you should request it. Some of the private rooms do not have views. Dinner starts at 18:00, 19:00, or 19:30. Breakfast starts at 7:30, 8:00, or 8:30.
Then if you don’t like seafood, I wouldn’t recommend staying here. Because the ryokan specializes in cooking with seafood.
*Please note that inform the staff when you book a room with meals if you have any food allergies. They probably wouldn’t be able to prepare alternative food if you request it on that day.
Then, as far as I know, there is no restaurant near the property. Most of the local papa-mama shops are closing early. You may want to book a room with meals unless you drive a car yourself.
My impressions
Overall, the property has great value for money. If you want to get much of an immersive onsen ryokan experience, you should stay here. You can fully enjoy hot springs, tranquil fishing ports, and beautiful islands that haven’t changed since ancient times.
At last, don’t forget to check the weather forecast before booking a room if you want to see a great view. Have a nice trip! Welcome to receive any questions about the property from the below space. Check Availability and Pricing for the property on Agoda
