What kind of resort is The Ritz Carlton Okinawa?
If you are looking for 5-star luxury resort hotels for adults in Okinawa, you should stay here. You can get much of an immersive “luxury resort” experience as you expect, it’s well worth it. Perhaps, if you are looking for venues for special occasions in Okinawa, I would recommend it. Once you enter the property, it’s like you’re in another world, especially, nighttime. The resort is illuminated. The ambiance is truly romantic, mysterious, and charming. We were overwhelmed by the beauty of the architecture, decorations, and garden. Perhaps if you bring small children, I would recommend it. This is child-friendly. Baby cribs, strollers, amenities, and diaper pails, etc., are available if you request in advance. Staff can arrange babysitters. Also, Ritz Kids programs are available. Children must be excited. Actually, there wouldn’t be many families with small children here, except for the summer holiday. Overall, the resort would be for adults. The hotel would be great for couples, families, small groups, or solo travelers.

Is the location easy to access?
No, it wouldn’t be easy from Naha Airport. You can take an Airport Limousine bus from the airport, and then get off at The Ritz-Carlton Okinawa or Okinawa Marriott Resort & Spa. You need to buy bus tickets from Japan Bus Online in advance. The bus fare is JPY2,100 per adult. Alternatively, you can take an Okinawa Airport Shuttle Bus from the airport and then get off at Kariyuri Beach Mae Bus Stop. Refer to the timetable. The bus fare is JPY1,600 per adult. Free shuttle service is available from Okinawa Marriott Resort & Spa or Kariyuri Beach Mae Bus Stop. You need to book a free shuttle bus in advance by e-mail at rc.okarz.guest.service@ritzcarlton.com
Rooms I would recommend?
If you are going to stay here, I would recommend a Gabana room with an outdoor Jacuzzi on the terrace on 1F. That’s truly amazing. We spent a lot of time jumping in and out of the private outdoor bath until check-out time. This is absolutory a perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of city life.
How about the club lounge?
There is no club lounge and no club floor, but there is a nice library on 1F. There is no food presentation except during special times.
How about toiletries & in-room amenities?
All of the amenities are taken care of including enough toiletries, bathrobes, pajamas, beach gowns, beach slippers, bottled water, tea bags, and a coffee machine with capsules. There were Asprey amenities in our bathroom. Room service is available for 24H. Turn-down service is available. There is no convenience store nearby. There is no vending machine on the property. You may want to buy your necessities before coming here. The free Wifi reception was excellent.
How about In-house Facilities?
There are indoor and outdoor swimming pools. The indoor one is open all year round. The outdoor one is open between April and Oct. If you have tattoos, you may have to wear rash guards. Also, a free shuttle service is available to Kise beach. It takes 5min. If you visit the beach, I would recommend bringing a picnic box called “Ritz Nic”. There are sandwiches, fruits, green salads, vegetable juice, cookies, wine glasses, and a picnic blanket, etc., in the box. It costs JPY3,000 per person + TAX. You need to order it one hour in advance. Then the small gym is open for 24H. *A minimum age requirement of 16 applies. You may want to bring your swimwear, huts, goggles, sportswear, and running shoes, etc. Alternatively, you can rent all of them. Then there are a variety of activities organized by the resort. We enjoyed a complimentary morning yoga class. You need to book it by 17:00 of the day before. Then The Ritz-Carlton Okinawa is a universal design. Wheelchairs are available for borrowing. If you bring people with weak feet, you may want to inform the staff in advance as they can arrange a room near the lift.

How about meals?
The food experience for dinner and breakfast was just divine. There are Italian, Teppanyaki, local cuisine, and western and Japanese buffet-style restaurants in-house. If you are a gourmet, you should try it. The buffet for breakfast was quite extensive. It couldn’t be better. Also “afternoon tea” at the lobby lounge from 14:00 to 18:00 is truly fantastic. Then, you can go out for meals as there are some local restaurants nearby. You should ask the staff to book a table. The staff sends you to a venue by car. That’s a great service.

My impressions
Most of the staff tend to be sophisticated but they looked so busy. If you want to chill out at the hotel in a tranquil atmosphere, you may want to avoid staying during Lunar New Year, late April to early May, the third week of July to late Aug, and the end of the year and New Year holiday. The resort would be crowded more than you expect. Overall, a one-night stay wouldn’t be enough. It was good without any comparison. Have a nice trip!
