What kind of hotel is Gamagori Classic Hotel?
This is a beautiful boutique classic hotel with an amazing large garden in Aichi prefecture. There are 27 rooms only. The location is not Nagoya city, but it’s worth a visit. It takes 40 to 50min by train from Nagoya Station. If you love classic hotels, you should stay here. The hotel is a spectacular place to stay with attention to every detail. Facilities tend to be outdated, but well-maintained.
On the other hand, if you are looking for modern hotels, this is not. Actually, the rooms tend to be not user-friendly, not functional, and not specious. There are not enough outlets. You may feel inconvenient during your stay.
Then it seems that the property has no latest soundproofing. My ear sometimes caught people talking in the hallways and slamming doors. If you are a light sleeper, you may want to stay on weekdays as the hotel occupancy rate on weekends would be high. The ambiance is serene, tranquil, and cozy. The hotel would be great for couples, families, small groups, or solo travelers.

Is the location easy to access?
Yes, it would be easy from Nagoya Station. It takes 40 to 50min by train. Take a Tokaido Main Line at Nagoya Station and get off at Gamagori Station. Then take a taxi. It takes 5min from the station to the property. It costs less than JPY1,000. Free shuttle service is available on Saturdays, Sundays, and Japan’s public holidays only.
Rooms I would recommend?
If you are going to stay here, I would recommend a room with an ocean view on 3F. You can fully enjoy viewing a peaceful Takeshima island, well-maintained garden, and blue ocean in good weather while chilling out in the room. We were overwhelmed by the breathtaking sunset and morning sun. On the other hand, I wouldn’t recommend a room with a mountain view. The room would be boring.
Is this child-friendly?
The hotel wouldn’t be child-friendly. The staff provides baby cribs at an additional charge, though.
How about toiletries & in-room amenities?
All of the amenities are taken care of including minimum toiletries, pajamas, bottled water, and green tea set, etc. There are bath amenities in the bathroom, but no skincare products. Room service is between 17:00 to 20:30. Wi-Fi reception was good in our room and the lobby. There is a convenience store within 10min walking.
How about In-house Facilities?
This is a universal design, but the bathroom wouldn’t be user-friendly as facilities tend to be outdated. Wheelchairs are available for borrowing, but I wouldn’t recommend this hotel if you bring someone with weak legs. Then there is no hot spring, no communal bath, no gym, no swimming pool, etc.

How about meals?
There are wonderful French, Teppanyaki, and Japanese restaurants on-site. We tried French cuisine. We enjoyed the meal while listening to a violin live performance. If you love beef, you should try the popular teppanyaki restaurant. You need to book a table in advance.
Then complimentary coffee and tea are available at the terrace on 2F between 6:00 and 7:00 before breakfast. We really relaxed there while seeing indescribably views and having morning coffee.
Then you can choose either Western or Japanese cuisine for breakfast when you check-in.
*Please note that inform the staff when you book a room with meals if you have any food allergies or dietary needs. They probably wouldn’t be able to prepare alternative food if you request it on that day.
Then, as far as I know, there wouldn’t be nice restaurants near the property. Most of the local papa-mama shops are closing early. You may want to book a room with meals.

My impressions
All staff tends to be sophisticated. They are the loveliest group. Overall the property has great cost performance if you love classic hotels, traditional Japanese gardens, and beautiful views.
Then, the best season to stay here would be in spring or fall. You can take a walk while seeing a magnificent traditional garden and Takeshima Island. On the other hand, I wouldn’t recommend staying in the summer or the winter season. It would be very hot and humid in the summer season. Also, along the coast in the winter season, there are many windy days.
At last, if you want to hang out around here in a tranquil atmosphere, you may want to avoid staying here on weekends in May, June, and Nov, and the end of the year and New Year holiday. There would be many local visitors on-site for wedding parties, family gatherings, or afternoon tea. Have a nice trip! Welcome to receive any questions about the property from the below space.
