Gamagori Classic Hotel

If you are in Nagoya, I would highly recommend staying at this hotel.  It’s well worth a visit.  The property has amazing views and large traditional garden.  This is spectacular place to stay with attention to every detail.  Facilities tend to be outdated, but well-maintained.  On top of that, the property has a great value for money.  Perhaps, if you are a connoisseur of Japan, I really think you should stay here.  Everything, such as architecture, interior, decorations, garden, and views would be impeccable.  On the other hand, if you are looking for modern hotels, this is not.  Actually the room was not user-friendly, not functional, and not specious.   Also there are not enough outlets.  Then it seems that the property has no latest soundproofing.  My ear sometimes caught people talking in the hallways and slamming doors.  If you are a light sleeper, you may want to stay on weekdays as the hotel occupancy rate on weekends would be high.  The ambiance is serene, tranquil, and cozy.  The hotel would be great for couples, family, small groups, or solo travelers.  There are 27 rooms only.  If you are going to stay here, you should book a room with an ocean view on 3F.   You can fully enjoy viewing a peaceful Takeshima island, well-maintained garden and blue ocean in good weather while chilling out at the room.  We were overwhelmed by the breathtaking sunset and morning sun.   On the other hand, I wouldn’t recommend booking a room with a mountain view.  The room would be boring.  Then this property wouldn’t be child-friendly.  Staff can provide baby cribs at an additional charge, though.  Wheelchairs are available for borrowing too.  Also I wouldn’t recommend the property if you bring people with weak feet.  Actually, this is universal design, but the bathroom tends to be not user-friendly as facilities tend to be outdated.  They would feel stressful during their stay.  Then all of the amenities are taken care of including minimum toiletries, pajamas, bottled water and green tea set, etc.  There are bath amenities in the bathroom, but no skincare products.  Room service is from 17:00-20:30.  Wifi reception was good in our room and the lobby.  Then there is a convenience store within 10min walking.  There is no communal bath in-house.  Then there are French, Teppanyaki, and Japanese restaurants on-site.  We tried French cuisine.  We enjoyed the meal while listening to a violin live performance.  Then complimentary coffee and tea are available at the terrace on 2F from 6:00-7:00 before breakfast.  We really relaxed there while seeing indescribably views and having morning coffee.  Then you can choose either western or Japanese cuisine for breakfast when you check in.  *Please note that inform staff when you book a room with meals if you have any food allergies or dietary needs.  They probably wouldn’t be able to prepare alternative food if you request on that day.  Then as far as I know, there wouldn’t be nice restaurants near the property.  Most of local papa-mama shops are closing early.  You may want to book a room with meals.  Then all staff tends to be sophisticated.  They are the loveliest group.  Overall the property has great cost performance if you love classic hotels, traditional Japanese garden, and very Japanese beautiful views.  Then an access to the property would be easy from Nagoya station.  It takes 40 to 50min by train.  The location is near Gamagori Station.  It takes 5min by Taxi from the station.  It costs less than JPY1,000.  Free shuttle service is available on Saturdays, Sundays, and Japan’s public holidays only.  Then, the best season to stay at the hotel would be in spring or fall.  You can take a walk while seeing a magnificent traditional garden and Takeshima Island.  On the other hand, I wouldn’t recommend staying in the summer or the winter season.  It would be very hot and humid around here in summer.  Also there would be many days in winter when the wind is very strong along the cost.  At last, if you want to hang out around here in a tranquil atmosphere, you may want to avoid staying between late April and early May, weekend in May, June, and Nov, and the end of year and New Year holiday.  There would be many local visitors in-house for wedding parties, family gatherings, or afternoon tea.  Have a nice trip!  Welcome to receive any questions about the property from the below space.  *All information is as of the date that I posted on my blog.  Check in and out times 15:00/12:00.  Check Availability and Pricing for the hotel on or Agoda
