This is my cup of tea.  If you have a change to visit Yugawara Onsen, I would highly recommend staying at Mimasuya.  Perhaps, if you are a connoisseur of japan, I really think you should stay here.  The property would be one of the best in Japan.  The property is like a museum.  If you love Japanese culture, you must be so excited when you explore in Mimasuya.  This is a spectacular place to stay with attention to every detail.  The stately interior, historical decorations, and antique furniture create a mature impression.  Once we arrived at the lobby, elegant staff welcomed us warmly and escorted to a beautiful western-Japanese room.  It’s like you’re in another world.  The building was built more than 70 years ago.  Facilities tend to be outdated, but well-maintained, renovated and very clean. The ambience is tranquil, charming and quaint.  Mimasuya would be great for couples, family, small groups, or solo travelers.  There are 15 rooms only.  We never met other guests when we stayed on weekday.  Mimasuya completely emphasizes private experiences for each guest.  Also, this is child-friendly.  Staff can provide yukatas, meals, and futons for children if you request in advance.  I noticed that there is a small kids’ play room with toys.  Then if you are going to stay here, I would highly recommend booking a Japanese-style superior room.  The room is spacious, classy, and chic.  We felt that the luxury and authenticity at once.  If you are looking for a room with an outdoor private hot spring, you should book a suite room.  If you don’t want to sleep on Japanese-style mattresses in tatami rooms, you may want to book a room with twin beds on tatami mats.  All of the amenities are taken care of including minimum toiletries, yukatas, and green tea bags, etc.  Room service is not available.  There is a vending machine for drinks.  Free Wi-Fi is available at the lobby only.  I noticed that a PC was placed at the lobby for use someone.  There is a convenience store nearby, but there are some steep slopes around the property, so you may want to buy your necessities before coming here.  *Basically, food and drink from outside is prohibited.  Then Mimasuya is not universal design.  There are some steps.  This is like a maze.  If you bring people with weak feet, you may want to inform staff in advance as they can arrange a room near the entrance.  Then there are small indoor and outdoor communal hot springs.  The spring quality is creamy, thick and moist.  Once you try them, you may become a hot spring freak.  All of them are open from 15:00-10:00 the following morning.  *If you have tattoos, you may not be permitted to use the communal bathing area.  You may want to book a suite room with an outdoor private one instead.  Then Mimasuya is one of auberge ryokans.  Kyoto kaiseki food experience was just divine.  If you are a gourmet, you should stay here.  The potion tends to be average.  All meals are served in your room or a private room.  Dinner starts from 18:00 or 18:30.  You need to check in by 18:00 if you have dinner in the property.  Breakfast starts from 8:00 or 8:30.  Alternatively, you can go out for dinner as there are some restaurants around Yugawara Station, but you need to take a taxi.  It takes 5min by car.  Actually, once you enter the property, you wouldn’t feel like going out after enjoying the hot springs.  You may want to have meals in the property.  *Please note that inform staff when you book a room with meals if you have any food allergies.  They probably wouldn’t be able to prepare alternative food if you request on that day.  Then all staff is excellent.  If you expect signature Japanese hospitality with personal touch, you should stay here.  They are the loveliest group.  It would be hard to compare with any places.  We did appreciate their amazing service.  On top of that, Mimasuya has great value for money, so there are many return guests all year round.  At last, the property is located on a hill.  It takes 20min on foot from Yugawara Station, but there are some steep slopes.  You may want to take a taxi from the station.  It costs around JPY800.  There is no free shuttle service.  Have a nice trip!  Welcome to receive any questions about Mimasuya from the below space.  *All information is as of the date that I posted on my blog.  **Check in and out times 3:00PM/10:30AM  Check Availability and Pricing for Mimasuya on Booking.com or  Agoda
