TOP5 Best Ryokans for Families in Hida Takayama, Gifu
If you are traveling with children, we would recommend the following ryokans. In particular, the staff at Hidatei Hanaougi, Hanaougi Bettei Iiyama, and Suihoen were very cooperative and helpful, making our stay with small children a pleasant experience. If you let the staff know in advance, they may be able to arrange for what you need. For example, yukatas, toothbrushes, baby potty seats, bouncers, diaper pails, etc. My husband and I also travel within Japan with small children from time to time. It is very difficult for us to move around because we have more luggage than usual, such as strollers, baby food, and diapers, but the staff was very attentive to our needs.
Then, babies in diapers are not allowed to use communal hot spring baths. In my experience, it is more convenient to book a room with a private hot spring bath if you have small children with you. Yamazatonoiori Soene, listed below does not have rooms with private hot spring baths, but it does have wonderful private family onsens that are free to use whenever available on the grounds. Other ryokans on the list below have rooms with private hot spring baths.
