If you love Kyoto like me, you must stay there.  Perhaps if you want to get an authentic ryokan adventure in Kyoto, this would be amazing.  It’s truly worth it.  Perhaps, if this is your first time staying at ryokans, I would highly recommend it.  The building is a very traditional Machiya-style, but a modern add-on.  On the other hand, if you plane to visit many areas in Kyoto, such as Ohara, Kurama, Takao, or Mt.Hiei, etc., I wouldn’t recommend it.  You wouldn’t need to travel far unless you have specific spots where you want to go to.  Actually there are many wonderful spots within walking distance.  I’m sure that you must feel excited while hanging out around there.  The property is charming, quaint, and modern.  We felt the luxury and authenticity at once.  The ambience is great for couples, family, or groups, not family with small kids, or not solo travelers.  *A minimum age requirement of 12 applies  If you are going to stay at the property, I would highly recommend booking more than two nights at least.  One night stay wouldn’t be enough.  Once you enter the property, you may want to get lazy at the ENGAWA which is a Japanese-style terrace while viewing a well-maintained traditional small garden. That’s the precious time.  You will never get tired of the views.  Also Facilities tend to be the latest.  The authentic wooden bathtub is installed in the bathroom.  You will be able to chill out while soaking in the bath after long day out.  Then all of the amenities are taken care of including enough toiletries, yukatas, pajamas, and a Japanese tea set.  Wifi reception was good.  This is not universal design.  There are few steps in-house, though.  Then the food experience for breakfast was nice.  You need to order it in advance if you want to try.  Staff can offer a boxed-style breakfast.  It costs 3,000JPY.  *Please note that inform staff when you book a room with breakfast if you have any food allergies.  They probably wouldn’t be able to prepare it if you request on that day.  Actually there are many restaurants, shops, and cafes, etc., around there, but there are few restaurants open for breakfast except fast-food ones.  Most of them are open from 11:00AM.  Then the most important I would like to highlight is the owner is really welcoming, helpful and warm.  Also he is very informative.  If this is your first time visiting Kyoto, you might want to ask him about recommended spots, restaurants, or events etc.  Anyway the best season to stay there would be absolutory in spring or fall.  You can see many breathtaking views while taking a walk around there.  Seeing these old buildings in Kyoto really makes you think about the people who used to live there.  Also if you are lucky, you may see genuine Maikos.  You have many chances to see fake ones around Kiyomizu Temple in daytime, though.  If you want to see genuine Maikos, you might want to visit around Hanamikouji Dori or Miyakawa-Cho near the property from 17:00-18:00.  There would be many amateur photographers standby around there.  On the other hand, I wouldn’t recommend staying there in the summer season unless you join the summer festivals in Gion.  The city is uncomfortably hot and muggy more than you expect.  It would be very hard to walk outside under the blazing sun.  The location is 15min walk from Sanjo Station or Gion-Shijo Station.  It takes 15min by TAXI from Kyoto Station.  It costs around 1,300JPY.  Most of taxi drivers wouldn’t know the property.  You may want to show a map where it is located.  Have a nice trip!  Welcome to receive any questions about the property from the below space.  *All information is as of the date that I posted on my blog.  **Check in and out times 3:00PM/11:30AM ***You need to inform staff of your expected arrival time in advance.  The owner will be standing by at the property.  Check Availability and Pricing for the property on
