Fuji Kawaguchiko Onsen Konansou

Fuji Kawaguchiko Onsen Konansou

What kind of onsen ryokan is Fuji Kawaguchiko Onsen Konansou?

If you are looking for typical onsen ryokans with views of Mt.Fuji, I would recommend it.  Perhaps if you bring children or people with weak feet, you should stay here.  This is child-friendly.  The staff offers baby bouncers, strollers, baby baths, meals, baby oil, shampoo, soaps, and yukatas, etc., for small children if you request in advance.  Also, this is a universal design.  There are some rooms for wheelchair users.  Wheelchairs are available for borrowing.  If you bring people with weak feet, you may want to inform the staff in advance as they arrange a room near the lift.  On the other hand, if you are looking for luxury onsen ryokans, this is not.  I would rather recommend Ubuya or Bessho SASA Hotel.  Fuji Kawaguchiko Onsen Konansou would be great for families with children or groups, but not couples or not solo travelers.  The ambiance is very lively, cozy, and family-oriented.  I noticed that there were many tour groups and families with children on weekend.  If you are a couple, you may want to stay on weekdays.

Is the location easy to access?

Yes, a free shuttle service is available from Kawaguchiko Station.  You need to book it in advance.  The location is perfect to view Mt.Fuji.

Rooms I would recommend?

Fuji Kawaguchiko Onsen Konansou
If you are going to stay here, I would recommend rooms with views of Mt.Fuji.  There are some rooms with views of Lake Kawaguchiko, not Mt. Fuji views.  The rooms are Japanese minimalistic, but truly relaxing.  Facilities tend to be the latest as Konansou was almost renovated in 2016.  Then if you don’t want to sleep on Japanese mattresses in tatami rooms, you should stay at Japanese western rooms with twin beds.

How about toiletries & in-room amenities?

All of the amenities are taken care of including minimum toiletries, yukatas, a Japanese tea set, and sweets, etc.  There are colorful yukatas for women that you can choose from.  Room service is not available.  There is a convenience store nearby.  There are vending machines for ice cream and drinks in-house.  The free WiFi reception was good in our room.

How about In-house Facilities?

There are some indoor and outdoor communal hot springs.  All of them are open from  5:00-10:00, 15:00-25:00.  Also, there is a private family hot spring.  It is open from 7:00-9:00, 15:00-23:00.  It costs 3,240JPY for 50min.  *Please note that if you have tattoos and want to use the communal baths, use the reserved private family baths, or book a room with a private hot spring.  Then the foot spa on the rooftop was amazing.  If you want to see a dynamic Mt.Fuji while enjoying the foot spa, you should visit before breakfast.  It is open from 6:00-10:00, 15:00-22:00.  There is a high possibility that you can see a beautiful Mt.Fuji in the early morning.

How about meals?

The Japanese kaiseki food experience for dinner was good, but it wouldn’t be special.  The portion tends to be big.  Don’t forget to bring your empty stomach.  The meal is served in your room or a private room in a dining area.  If you have dinner on the property, you need to check-in by 18:00.  *Please note that inform the staff when you book a room with dinner if you have any food allergies.  They probably wouldn’t be able to prepare alternative food if you request on that day.  Then Buffet-style breakfast at the dining area was wonderful.  The buffet is quite extensive.  There is always more than enough food each day.   Then, as far as I know, there is no nice restaurant around the property.  The location is out of the way.  You may want to book a room including meals.

My impressions

Most of the staff tend to be very helpful, attentive, and warm, but they wouldn’t be sophisticated.  If you cannot find English speakers, you might want to write on paper what you want to say.  Most of the young staff would understand English sentences.  I hope you don’t mind.  At last, don’t forget to check the weather forecast before booking a room.  That’s the most important.  Have a nice trip!  Welcome to receive any questions about Fuji Kawaguchiko Onsen Konansou from the below space.  You need to inform the staff of your expected arrival time in advance.  Check Availability and Pricing for the onsen ryokan on Booking.com or Agoda
