The Prince Sakura Tower Tokyo, Autograph Collection

The Prince Sakura Tower Tokyo, Autograph Collection

What kind of hotel is The Prince Sakura Tower Tokyo, Autograph Collection?

I decided to stay at this hotel with three of my best friends during the beautiful autumn season when the leaves are changing colors. The three friends live in Hokkaido, Fukuoka, and Okinawa prefectures, respectively, and since they were flying to Tokyo for the occasion, we chose this hotel because of its convenient location near Haneda Airport. To get straight to the point, we loved the hotel’s wonderful Japanese garden, the three club lounges that are always free to use, and the reasonable price range. In particular, we were able to have drinks in the club lounges at any time during our stay, which was very enjoyable for us. We are usually so busy with housework, child-rearing, and work that it has been a while since we have been able to relax.

We met at the ticket gate of Shinagawa station around 2:00 p.m. on a clear, blue-sky mid-November day and were delighted to see each other again after several years. We took the Takanawa exit and waited for a free shuttle bus, but since we didn’t have much luggage, we decided to walk to the hotel. We turned right at the Takanawa exit and saw a pale pink building. Then, after about three minutes of walking, we saw a brown sign that said The Prince Sakura Tower Tokyo. There was a Seven-Eleven convenience store on the other side of the road. A short walk from the hotel sign led us to the hotel where we would be staying. On the way, there is a long gentle slope, so it would be difficult on rainy or snowy days, but on a nice day, walking is fine. It took about 5 minutes.

Entering the magnificent hotel entrance, we found a wonderful wooden automatic door, and when the automatic door opened, there was an impressive shiny object. The approach to the hotel entrance is via stairs and a barrier-free pathway, which make it possible for strollers and wheelchairs to smoothly enter the hotel building.

Upon entering the spacious lobby, one was enveloped in a luxurious ambiance and pleasant aroma. In the center of the lobby, a pillar with a pattern that looked like something woven cast a golden light, and sofas with the same pattern as the pillar were spaciously placed to create a calm and serene ambience. The lobby had a low ceiling, but did not feel oppressive at all, and the indirect lighting created a wonderful space. The lobby was truly a collaboration of interior designers, kimono designers, and lighting designers, with Japanese craftsmanship scattered throughout.

Upon entering through the main entrance, the check-in counters were located on the right. We arrived before 2:30 p.m. on a Saturday, and there was no line waiting to check in and we were guided smoothly. We took the elevator to our room. The elevator automatically lit up with the floor we were staying on when we held up our card key. The elevator also had a window on one side facing the Japanese garden, so we could look down on the beautiful garden from above with its autumn leaves. Since there were four of us in total, we booked two tower view deluxe twin bed rooms on the executive floor on the 14th floor.

Upon entering the room, the bathroom was to the left, and a little further on was twin beds on a carpet with a cherry blossom pattern. There was a comfortable gray sofas and a table by the window. From the window of the room, we could see the guesthouse for VIPs and Tokyo Tower. It was not a spectacular view, but the illuminated guesthouse and Tokyo Tower were tasteful.

After this we decided to first visit the club lounge in The Prince Sakura Tower Tokyo to enjoy “Tea Time”. The spacious lounge had about 10 kinds of sweets including strawberry mousse cake, financier, mont blanc, pustachio cake, caramel cookies, cheese crackers, rusks, macaroons, and Dacquoise. Drinks included Asahi beer, Coca-Cola, ginger ale, non-alcoholic beer, orange juice, apple juice, vegetable juice, coffee, and tea. The only alcoholic beverage available was Asahi Beer. We relaxed here for a while, sipping our beer.

After this, we decided to stroll through the Japanese garden surrounded by the three hotels. The Japanese garden is dotted with seasonal flowers and plants, a pond with Nishikikoi carp, and historical sites such as Kannondo, the bell tower, and the temple gate. When we visited this time, the maple and cherry leaves in the Japanese garden were beautifully colored in red, yellow, and orange, glistening in the sunlight. The red and yellow maple leaves floating on the surface of the crystal clear pond and the Nishikikoi swimming gracefully under them were especially beautiful, just like colorful yuzen-dyed kimonos. The Japanese garden is beautiful during the cherry blossom season, but it is also indescribably beautiful during the season of autumn leaves.

We decided to take a stroll through the Japanese garden and this time visit the club lounge at Grand Prince Hotel Takanawa as well. It was past 4:00 pm, so it was ”Tea time”. We took seats by the window and enjoyed sparkling wine with a view of the Japanese garden with its beautiful autumn leaves. The buffet counter was lined with Japanese sweets such as green tea straw rice cakes, green tea baumkuchen, caramel pear cake, green tea brownies, and green tea macaroons. Beverages included Asahi Beer, Sparkling wine, orange juice, tomato juice, ginger ale, and Coca-Cola, etc.

Then after this, we decided to go to the club lounge at Grand Prince Hotel New Takanawa. It was just after 5:00 p.m. at this time, so it was “Cocktail time”. The ambience of the club lounge was the most luxurious of the three hotels. You cannot see the Japanese garden from this lounge, but if you look up at the sky, you can clearly see airplanes heading to Haneda Airport and arriving and departing planes flying by. It was a very cozy and extraordinary space. The buffet counter was lined with sake, shochu, red wine, plum wine, etc., and the big fridge had beer, sparkling wine, white wine, soft drinks, Coca-Cola, ginger ale, non-alcoholic beer, etc. Hors d’oeuvres included soaked greens, Dutch stewed eggplant, homemade tofu, sardine with ume plum paste, fried octopus, fried taro, smoked black pepper pork, marinated smoked salmon, shrimp, bean and quinoa salad, chilled jellyfish and cucumber, squid with honey mustard, and smoked cheese. Of the three club lounges, this is probably the best offering of food and alcohol during cocktail time.

We planned to have dinner at a restaurant near Shinagawa Station, but we were already full at this point, so we did not go out to the restaurant after all.

After this, we decided to go to whirlpool baths on the basement floor. The sauna had a dry sauna and a mist sauna, but there was no water bath. The ceiling was made of glass, allowing us to relax while looking out at the view outside. The whirlpool bath was a little small and could only accommodate about 4 people, but we were the only users at that time. The temperature was just right, not too hot and not too lukewarm, and it felt great. There is also a spacious gym on the basement floor, which is well equipped. Running shoes and sportswear are available for rent.

Afterwards, we enjoyed Nightcap in the lounge of The Prince Sakura Tower Tokyo to quench our dry thirst. Alcoholic beverages included shochu, whiskey, gin, liqueurs, and beer. There were also crackers, cheese, chocolate, olives, and dried fruits.

Then although we were very tired at this point, we decided to take a walk in the Japanese garden, which was illuminated. The stately historical buildings of Kannondo, the bell tower, and the temple gate were in perfect harmony with the red and orange autumn leaves, creating a solemn atmosphere. It is worth seeing.

The next morning, we woke up a little after 8:00 a.m. and spent some time in our room, making coffee, sitting on the sofas, sipping coffee, and looking out our room window at the elegant guest house.

Then for breakfast, we decided to have American breakfast + half buffet at the restaurant called Chiliegio on the ground floor of The Prince Sakura Tower Tokyo. You can choose to have breakfast at the lounge of The Prince Sakura Tower Tokyo, Grand Prince Hotel Takanawa, or the restaurant called Chiliegio.

After breakfast, we sat on the terrace in the club lounge of our most favorite hotel, Grand Prince Hotel New Takanawa, until checkout, enjoyed mixed nuts and dry ciders, and took the shuttle bus back to Shinagawa Station before noon. We then disbanded here, hoping to see each other again next year.

Overall, this is not a 5-star super-luxury hotel, and the drinks and food in the three club lounges were of a certain level, though not of the highest quality. Considering the price range, the value for money was excellent. I think this is a great hotel, especially for families, groups, business travelers, and solo travelers.
